Vegas Shows & Other Recommendations

Hubby and I are going to Vegas for a wedding in April for 4 blissful, childfree nights! WOOOOOOT. I don't think we've had more than 2 in a row (he and I together anyway) since 2004!

Anyway, the wedding is of course going to cover one night, but we are looking for things to do the other 3 nights. Shows, restaurants, etc.

We are staying at the Aria right in the middle of things.

We really enjoyed both "O" and Barry Manilow!

Restaurants:
Lunch at the Eiffel Tower at "Paris"
Fleur de Lys at Mandalay Bay
Aureole at Mandalay Bay
Mesa Grill at Caesar's

We are vegetarians so there are lots of restaurants we never tried!

You are staying in the new City Center. You will love it! It dwarfs the Bellagio!

We loved "O" and "Love" both shows are great.

Thanks guys! Good recommendations. I am thinking of doing VIVA Elvis (a cirque show too) that is at Aria. I am pretty excited.

My hubby likes to gamble a little but I am more about the shows and pool!

You are going in April, I highly recommend procurring tickets to the top rated shows (like O) NOW.

Have fun....childless for 4 nights, eh.......hope you get a room with nice looking ceilings

Flip Flop,

You mentioned that your hotel was in the middle of things. It is actually in the middle of the City Center at the far end of the Strip, in between the Monte Carlo and the Bellagio. It's not in the center of the strip. But you are in an exciting new location.

Since the City Center recently just opened in December 2009(been in the making for more than 10 years), I recommend reservations in advance (a few weeks) to any of the great restaurants located there. Jean George and Michael Mina to name a few.

It is a city within itself! The art displays will blow you away!

If you haven't read up on it's history, be sure to do so at www.citycenter.com.

Have a fabulous time and win big! Hope there'll be a trip report, but leave out the X-rated parts okay?

I am very much looking forward to checking out City Center. I have a friend who travels to Vegas a lot and another who works for vegas.com and both said knowing me that's where I should stay.

We've been before and stayed at bellagio but its been YEARS. Pre-kids.

Thanks for the advice!!! I promise the trip report will be PG - 13 at worst!

I have to second Love. If you are a Beatles fan you will be in heaven, if not then you will be after this show. I have seen most of the Cirque shows in Vegas, Ka, Mystere, O, and another one I cant think of, Zumanity maybe, but Love was by far my favorite. The music was amazing!

Also The Blue Man Group is a lot of fun. That is my second favorite show out there. Just don't sit too close to the front unless you don't mind getting stuff on you. I havent heard anything about VIVA Elvis. I cant wait to see what you think about that one if you guys do end up going.

Ok, maybe this is too corny for some, but I would love to see Terry Fator; I believe he is at the Mirage.

He won America's Got Talent a few seasons ago. He is an amazing singing ventriloquist. I think his show would be very entertaining.

Love was my #1 choice but its dark when we are there

I am leaning toward VIVI Elvis. Just sound cheesy and right up my alley!

Buffets, breakfast at the RIO

Dinner, Paris, Paris has a very decent buffet and the desserts are super yummy.

Flip, while I really loved "Love" and am a Beatles fan, I liked "Mystere" better. "Ka" was very dark and underworldlike. "Mystere" was more circus like, funny and light. Just my 2 cents. Also, I keep meaning to go on the tour of the Ethel M factory out there - chocolate, yum!
