STJ/JVD in Mid-May?

Post by stltimmy »

Hey gang,

Long time lurker, first time poster. All the information is quite valuable!

I am traveling alone to the islands in May. I will be on STJ 5/9-5/12, JVD 5/12-5/14, and STT 5/14-5/15. Will anyone be in paradise on those dates? I am looking forward to making new friends on the islands.

STJ w/ Drunk Broke Friends...

Post by stltimmy »

Jorge,

I am a drunk, and after this vacation, I will once again be broke for the remainder of the year. So that is a yes to your question. I haven't stayed on STJ before, just visited while staying on STT. So this is going to be a lot of fun for me. I will be right up from Cruz Bay at Suite Dreams. Hopefully this is within walking distance of the downtown bars. I will also have a jeep to explore the island.

As the date nears, I will want to touch base with you guys, if you don't mind another partier to join in the festivities!

All the best...

Tim

Too bad, we leave right before you arrive.

I've done the solo trip a few times and I find it's a great way to meet people and solve life's problems. Nothing like some time alone in paradise to make you appreciate your sometimes annoying family.

How about Tortola...

Post by stltimmy »

So let me tap your guys vast amounts of island knowledge. On the way back from JVD to STT, I have to route through Tortola on the ferry. I guess I will be heading through West End, and I have the luxury of staying there one hour, or three to four hours. I presume its worth staying as long as possible. But not having done much research on what to do in Tortola, is there any "must do's" near West End? I have to look on a map, but isn't Soper's Hole a common place to visit?

Hope you all had a spectacular weekend!

Where are you staying on JVD?

I like to stop in at the Jolly Roger on West End. Its a good and inexpensive perch to have some beers and lunch. They have a Hertz counter there if you need a car (book ahead).

JVD

Post by stltimmy »

Hey Rick,

I am staying at the Perfect Pineapple for two nights while on JVD. I wanted to be able to see a bit of Tortola, but I may not be able to due to the ferry schedule. It all depends on which flight back to Saint Louis I end up taking out of STT. I have to route through Tortola no matter what (unless you all have a better option), but I may only have an hour or so to kill...

Have a great day!

Also a solo traveler here- looks like I'll be just missing most of you- I arrive end of May. Darn! I've been lurking for a while and really appreciate all the info. If anyone's going to be around end of May, let me know! :)
