Good Sunday Morning!!

Just thought I would pop in and say hello to everyone. It is a very cold 12 degree Sunday morning here. As it is just about everywhere. LOL

Everything is fine here, still dealing with DH's health issues, but he is doing great, is working, and is very active and that is good.

I am semi-retired - On Fridays I sit with a man who is ill, I also sit with him on other days if the other two caregivers need the day off. This is really rewarding and something I never thought I would do, and something I need to do right now in my life.

And, I've started a stained glass business. I've done stained glass for a few years now and finally decided to kick it up a notch. It is going very well, nothing that I will ever get rich on, but is keeping me very busy. Which is a good thing - or so says Martha S. Ha!!

I've read some of the threads, on this board and the VI board and have enjoyed catching back up with everyone's lives. Loved Gromit's sail boat week TR!

Hey Coden! Good to see ya! It sounds like things are going well in your neck of the woods. It's neat that you're getting your stained glass thing going! I've done stained glass in the past, but never anything good enough to sell. And it's nice to hear that you find helping someone who is ill so rewarding. Keep us posted!

Thank you, CAGirl. I hope all is well with you? Things are well here for the most part. Staying near home, other than short trips. Will be going to Fla this Sept as usual, so looking forward to digging my toes into the sand. Yippee!!

Pjayer - I can't stand this cold weather. Still seeing little snow flurries this morning. At least it is supposed to warm up a bit this coming week. I'm starting to go stir crazy, as in I need to hit the Junk It Shops, Habitat for Humanity store, etc...but it is too cold to worry about buying someone's Junk. LOL

Hey, Coden! Welcome back and glad to hear your other half is doing better.
I also do stain glass stuff, though I've been a little bit lazy for the past couple of years. I've done a lot of lamp shades, a few commissions, more kaleidoscopes than I care to remember.
Here's a couple of things that I made for us a few years back. Both the parrot panel and the Waterlilly lamp shade have a lot of ripple/ drapery type glass in them which many glass people refuse to work with because of the cost and how hard it is to work with.

I've yet to try a tiffany style lamp, but I want to some day. How many hours do they normally take?

Coden, I like your stuff! Your solder bead on the guitar piece is very clean. I take a lot of pride in my soldering. I think that it is very important for a professional look. As far as to the hours on the Tiffany style lamps, I prefer not to think about it.
I have a shade with over 1900 pieces, not one any bigger than my thumb. I searched for three years for just the right glass, cut the pieces, never wrapped them in the copper foil, decided that I didn't like the lamp and the whole thing is in a box in my shed. I keep saying that I'll get back to it someday! Anyway, flat panel lamps go very quickly. I can pretty much do one of those in a one long day.

JT - thank you for the compliment. I try very hard when soldering to do as good of a job as I can.

You have a lamp that has 1900 pcs, no bigger than your thumb? My Gawd!! I say that because I am working on a piece right now that has some tiny pieces and they are a bugger for sure.

I'm doing 3 windows this month...a duck window, an iris window and a geometric window, I'll post a pic when I am done.

Coden, I found some old pictures of some of the things that I made. I think if you double click this one it will take you to them. The airplane is a kaleidoscope that you look through the fusilage from the tail end and spin the prop. I probably made about 25 of those over the years. They sold easily and I gave a few for presents.

I have a very good friend that has taken her glass work to another level. She has a couple of kilns and is both fusing and curving glass. I've fallen way behind some of these folks. My friend made all glass tiles and tiled her kitchen walls in fused tiles that she made! Keep up your work and always study new stuff.

Very, very nice! I notice that you use wooden frames for your pieces. I'm just now getting into that type of framing vs zinc. I've been picking them up at the Junk-it shops - and plan on designing the size of the piece to match the framework - I hope it works.

I'm also wanting to get into the glass fusing. A friend of mine has a kiln, so one day I'll try it. I have one purchased piece that has fused glass and it is very cool.

Thank you for sharing your pictures, I have enjoyed seeing your work. I love doing stained glass, I've spent almost all day in my studio, by myself, just working. It was so quite and nice and peaceful.

Having a strong attraction and love for cats and anything feline, this pic and the work really grabbed me. Loved seeing it - thank you.
