Picture challenge:

Post by XOXO »

Is anyone interesting in starting a challenge to take pictures in different situations and post them. I think it could be a really fun way to practice and work on our creativity and get comfortable with different settings.

I have my crash course DVD and I want to start taking pictures. I am only 1/3 through the DVD.

I think there are a few of us who are new to the canon eos rebel. How are you doing with your new camera??

I would be although I haven't been able to spend much time with my new camera yet. I am the geek that reads the manual several times before I dive in.

Hopefully, I can take my new camera for a walk this week.

I'm in. I'd try, anyway. I know nothing about photography!

Ok, lets get to work. I have the battery charged. I am new to SLR.

Challenge: take an action picture in your neighborhood.

For me that means SNOW and I think it will be hard. I want to use the sports mode. For those with snow to keep it from turning grey try using between +1 and +2 stops of exposure compensation. (I think)

Have fun exploring your neighborhoods with your SLR!

I have one and did not know what it stood for:lol: - Single-Lens Reflex; basically not a point and shoot camera. The new ones are DSLR's (Digital)

Although, I hope all forumites with any type of camera can join the challenge - no?

Absolutely, Janet. I might have to get out my point and shoot. There is so much to remember with this camera~!

Early this morning at about 4 am there were 3 deer in the back yard. I thought about the challenge but could not get myself out of bed. I hope they come back!!

No need to run for the P&S; just put the Rebel in automatic mode :o

This will be a challenge for me. Might need to wait for the weekend as I can't think of any in-town neighborhood subjects that would be interesting.

I did see a river otter on Saturday but only had the "old" camera with me.

Is anyone working on this? I am having a hard time with my new camera. Today I took some action pictures of my dog playing with the neighbor's dog. They are cute but I accidentally took them on the wrong setting (portrait). So, I will try again tomorrow.

Also, my viewfinder isn't working--I am sure that I set something wrong. I will have to look it up but don't have time--so if anyone wants the help me cheat and tell me how to set it I would appreciate it.

Gina

Oh, and if you have an opportunity I thought Christmas lights would be a good challenge for next week.

Gina, when you say your viewfinder isnt working, do you mean the optical viewfinder that you hold up to your eye?

Did you turn on your screen for live preview? I think that locks up the mirror, so you cant see through the viewfinder.
