Deluxe Studios at Estate Concordia question
Anyone have any experiences there? It's just over Salt Pond & Ram Head...

Hi Jim,
Hopefully someone else will have more to offer but we did tour there the last time we visited.
It was really cool-beautiful views and the tent we looked at (I think it was considered a tent) was really new and nice.
If you can get the right location you will get lots of wind and at least from the one we looked at it wouldn't get too hot.
One potential negative is that there are tons of stairs here. So if you have a lot to carry that could be an issue.
We also sort of did the numbers and found that we weren't sure if it was really that good of a deal compared to some of the low prices you can get on villas right now. We did a last minute deal on our most recent trip and were offered very low prices by two villa owners that were pretty darn close.
With all of the conveniences of a villa it would have to be a pretty significant difference for us to go that route. Although it would be a fun adventure. So if that is what you are looking for, we didn't see anything that was a red flag or anything.
You would definitely want to also take a look at the kitchen that is offered in the studio. We do lots of cooking in the villa and I don't think we would be able to make the same kind of meals in the unit we looked at. Which would also lead to us eating out more and costing more in that respect also.
Also consider what you like to do at night (other than the obvious
). The restaurant there looked nice but was a little pricey. There is a pool there but obviously it is shared.
We really enjoy our privacy sitting outside, playing music, drinking, and the kids swimming at night. It would be a lot different at this place as you would have other families or couples there. It could be really fun or really not.

LOVE concordia--in fact it is usually our go to place -- thought we usually opt for the tents--
we have stayed in the studios as well and they are lovely- the place has a great vibe and a nice pool and the food at the pavillion is decent--I would highly recommend staying there.
Getting to and from the studios is'nt so bad in terms of stairs--but there are alot of stairs in general

We stayed in one of the studios a few years ago-picked the top one so we wouldn't have to do the stairs Beautiful view from there. We didn't use the pool at all, hit the beaches all the time. The studio we had was small; I believe they come in 2 sizes? It had a bedroom, bathroom with a big shower area, small kitchen area, and entry area with a futon/couch. Great little deck for sitting and watching boats. I don't remember a/c which could be an issue. At the time they didn't have the restaurant so can't comment on that. The road out there is paved now (it wasn't then). We drove out there last week when we were on STJ because we have some friends who might be interested in the location so I took some "vista" pictures that I'll post tonight. We enjoyed it a lot, but as djmom posted there might be some good rental deals out on island this next year. If it's just the two of you, we just rented Stone Harbor in Coral Bay which was nice

We stayed at Concordia in a studio about 4 years ago in May. We just loved it. The room is basic and as the name says, it was really a studio - bedroom, table area, big bathroom, small but adequate kitchen. We had a big porch overlooking Salt Pond and ate our meals out there. It was a lovely, peaceful place with a nice view and we enjoyed it a lot. You don't have as much space as a villa (obviously), but it was fine for the two of us. We just did very basic cooking on that trip. We would get carryout or prepared food from grocery store, fix some veggies and enjoy the view.
There are definitely a lot of stairs which were a little bit of a nuisance, when we checked in and out. We are Mr and Mrs "Take a Bunch of Stuff", but we really didn't mind them. We did take flashlights since it is very dark at night without much light for navigating all the stairs.
This year, we went there just for dinner one night and arrived early to enjoy the sunset. Their drink and food menu is very limited. We enjoyed the appetizers and main dishes we ordered very much, and would eat there again. The people running the restaurant were pleasant to chat with.
We loved walking up the hill at night to a bench overlooking Rams Head and looking at the stars and listening to the crashing surf at Drunk Bay.
We liked the location, but it is quite a haul to get back into Cruz Bay. I think it was about 45 minutes. For us, we enjoyed the beaches on that end of the island, and the Coral Bay restaurants, especially Shipwreck. So as other poster said, it depends on what you like to do and how often you want to go into Cruz Bay. If you cook a lot, you would want to be fairly organized in terms of getting what you need at the grocery stores in Cruz Bay. The ones in Coral Bay are a bit more limited, although we always made do with whatever we could find in the 2 stores there.
My hubby wants to stay in the tents overlooking Rams Head some time. It was VERY windy, the tents and their decks are small, so I am not crazy about the idea. However, the view over Rams Head is beautiful - you can see Drunk Bay and Salt Pond. Don't take a bunch of stuff as they are small.

We've stayed in a small studio once and a loft studio (the big one) twice; this coming April will be our third time in a loft. The accommodations are basic but have everything you'll need and the view is awesome. The kitchen in the loft unit is well equipped with full-sized fridge, oven, and dishwasher. Baths are large with tile shower - nice. Lots of living space; comfy beds; no AC, phone, or TV, but you won't miss them. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I LOVE Concordia Eco-Resort and I live here...
I've taken a few "on-island" vacations and stayed at Concordia Eco-Resort. It is an amazing place. I highly recommend it. The previous posts cover the main points but I'd like to add: The Coral Bay grocery stores have improved their stock overall & Lily's Grocery always adds more inventory during season including more & better produce & meat selection. Check out The Fishtrap Seafood Market in Cruz Bay for any seafood you'll want to prepare. The eco-tents also have small kitchen facilites including a little fridge & stove. There is a pool, laundry facilities, internet service, a small grocery store/boutique, yoga classes & evening restaurant (plan to lunch at The Tourist Trap which you can walk to from Concordia.)
NEW THIS YEAR: The Tourist Trap opened and it is walking distance to The Concordia Eco Resort. In fact you have to go right past The Tourist Trap because the private road/entry to & from Concordia goes right by it. Also the lower road to Concordia Restaurant is fully paved this year. I think The Concordia Restaurant is closed on Sundays & Mondays, check with them. The Tourist Trap is closed Sunday & Monday; open 11am -6pm Tues-Sat.
