I am having the moms of my Girl Scout troop over to pick up their daughter's cookie sales packet and for a glass of wine. The girls can come too if the moms are ok about the wine (not supposed to have alcohol in front of girls at official meetings).
It is just dropping in from 5-7 Friday. Some will just grab the pack and go I am sure, and then there will probably be a few that come for the whole time or longer. There are only 10 of us.
I need something that is simple as an appetizer, that will stay good for a few hours out, that doesn't look like I fussed over it. Just real casual, but I wouldn't mind festive.
What I was kind of thinking was one of those brie type dishes where you put something on top and cook it a bit.
Anyone have any favorites like that or a dip recipe that is a little different?
Then I will probably make a batch or two of cookies.

the brie is good in the moment but I don't think it sits well. doesn't look great after it melts and then starts to set up.
do you like goat cheese? I buy 2 logs and roll one in paprika and one in mixed chopped herbs. it looks festive. you can serve with crackers and maybe a chutney or fig spread or something.

PW uses dill but all dill is too much for me so I mix it up.

I was going to say Trader Joe's also. They have awesome appetizers. These are delicious:
Pumpernickel Party Bread (you know the small squares they sell in the deli section)
Mix a package of cream cheese with 1 packet of Good Seasons Italian salad dressing ( let sit for a couple of hours)
Spread on bread, top with a slice of cucumber and sprinkle dill weed on top..Refrigerate. I love these things!!
