Happy Holidays Everyone!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
I hope this is OK to post on the Travel side of the forum...
I had such a wonderful family filled Thanksgiving holiday that I want to extend my wishes to all of the Forum (Travel & Off Topic) for a happy holiday season!
For many of us, there is not as much in the bank as we'd like. My suggestion is to change things up a but this year.
Focus on the people you are buying gifts for rather than the amount of money you are spending. Try to find one great gift that your loved ones will really like instead of worrying if you spent enough money on it.
Try baking- cookies, breads, etc. The gift of homemade food from your own kitchen is always wonderful!
Try framing an important photo- of a great vacation you spent together, an intimate moment you had together (ok- not THAT intimate), an object that the recipient has an emotional attachement to.
Offer your time as a gift- if you have a skill, offer to help someone out who doesn't have that skill but needs something done. Offer babysitting for a busy couple who needs a dinner and a movie, offer to help someone rake leaves or mulch a garden on the spring.
Of course, if you have a STJ lover in your circle, Anthony's got some great, inexpensive gifts for the STJ, STT & STX lover in all of us!
Promise yourself not to stress out this year. Tell friends and family that their health, happiness & well-being are what's most important to you this holiday season!
Have a great one everyone!

Very good suggestions.
Can also write them a letter telling them how much they mean to you, a poem (if you are talented like that),or write about an ancedote from the past you shared and fancy it up on the computer, then get a mat & real nice frame to put it in.
An IOU for a day out to the park, beach,a hike etc. You supply the food & drink. They get out and do something they like and share it with the person they care about.
The best gift you can give is yourself & your time.

As a sgl parent,I had been in tough spots come the holidays many times and needed to concentrat on my child's gifts. So would give gifts like you suggested or what I said and not only did they appreciate it but I enjoyed doing it alot too. It's a part of you & takes much thought.
But think you're posting was excellent and a good reminder what the holidays are about.
Thank you.

I agree with you both..."The best gift you can give is yourself & your time."
Truely, for me, gifts from the heart have always been the most appreciated. Our 12 year old son plays the guitar and has expressed wanting to make a CD of his music, Christmas and Classical, to give to family and friends.
Happy Holidays to All,
Jo

Jo, what a beautiful gift that will make, and one that will last for many years. How talented he must be and how proud you have to be of him... You can't give more from the heart than a song.islandjo2010 wrote:I agree with you both..."The best gift you can give is yourself & your time."
