Best Beach Reads?

Post by dtenel »

Getting ready for my next trip down to STT. Nothing makes me happier than laying on the beach with a frozen drink and a good book 8) However, since I am a huge reader....I am out of books/authors to take with me? Any ideas? I do like easy reading while I am on vacation as well as romantic/funny books. I do not like the murder/mystery. Can you guys/gals give me some ideas for book titles &/or authors to take? Thanks so much! Counting down the days: 24 more days until Limin time!!!!!

Don't Stop the Carnival, Herman Wouk
A Trip to the Beach, Paul and Melinda Blanchard
An Embarrassment of Mangoes, Ann Vanderhoof
Water for Elephants, Sara Gruen
A Year in Provence, and the sequel, Toujours Provence, by Peter Mayle
Skinny Dip, Carl Hiassen
Any book by David Sedaris

There is a huge thread on the off-topic forum called "What are you Reading" that has lots of excellent ideas also. Here's a link to that thread:

Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follet
It is a 1,000 page read; takes place in the 1200's; great vacation book; I couldn't put it down.

World Without End is the sequel. Equally as good.

I second A Trip to the Beach! If you stay in Cruz Views 1, it's in the book closet! That was one of my beach reads.

Thanks all! I did go through all 23 pages of the off topic tread and got some ideas :D However, a lot of the ideas seemed to be for books that I wouldn't read. Here are the books I am going to try to find:

1. An Embarrassment of Mangoes
2. Don't Stop the Carnival
3. A trip to the Beach
4. My Beautiful Boy
5. Memoirs of a Beautiful Boy
6. Gringo's in Paradise
7. Desiring Paradise

Any other ideas? I would LOVE some m,ore about the islands;)

UGH......I got all of my books on hold at the library except Desiring Paradise and Drive on the Left. The library doesn't have either of these books at any of the local branches :x Does anyone have any idea where I can get these? I really want to have them before we leave on December 5.

I'm pretty sure I still have Desiring Paradise. If you PM me your address, I'll mail it to you. Free of charge...because I'm nice like that. :D

Try Paperback Swap. It's an online book exchange that works pretty well.

The perfect book would be the one that doesn't obstruct your view of the hotties up and down the beach.
