rent a car - dependable or discount??
Good Evening
I'm going to be on St. Thomas next week and i'm planning on renting a car. I like to use local services and i've heard nice things about both dependable and discount. any recommendations, one way or the other? most important is quality and condition of car, and ease of pickup and dropoff from airport.

Taking the advice from Rick, we had a wonderful experience with Dependable this past April.
So much so that we've booked with them again for November.
There's nothing better than the warm blast of the tarmac at the airport as you leave the plane! That, coupled with a nice(albeit warm) rum drink as you get through the STT airport, there's a short wait as you collect your bags and there is a car waiting for you to pick up your rental.
It kind of breaks the tradition of the taxi ride to Red hook, and your ferry ride into Cruz bay, but overall, as Rick has mentioned, and I agree, it simply puts you on "Island Time" as soon as you put your feet on the ground at the airport.
Not only that, but you can go up top on the carbarge ferry to enjoy a chilly beer on your way into Enighed.-(followed shortly thereafter by a Johnny Cake at Hercules!!!)

Jim, I'm jealous because this would normally be the time we'd be on island.
We use both Dependable or Discount. It all depends on their prices. This April/May we will use Discount because their prices for a 10 day stay was just about 90.00 cheaper.

My Sweet Amy & I are indeed planning for a trip @ the same time as yous for next year, so if we have to go all the way down there to see you, we're up for it!
You should have seen the size of the box of assorted Tasty Kakes that I mailed down to Mathayom from STJ. Catering...(we barter a bit,-great Philly boy!)
