flying the Tuesday before Thanksgiving?

Post by Maryanne »

Is it really that bad? Or is Wednesday the bad day? Would just be going from Boston to NY, (switching airports with plenty of time between), then on to Europe...

Thanks for any input..

even if it's bad... you're heading to Europe! Lucky :)

Tuesday shouldn't be too bad with the crowds. I've traveled in the past on that day and it was fine. Good luck however with the typical BOS and JFK ATC delays. However, International connections always have 1st priority.

two years ago we flew out of DC to Cancun on the wed before. The airport was not at all busy, plenty of parking...we stayed at a hotel by the airport because we were afraid we wouldn't get parking ( DCA has a problem) We kept looking for the people..I do know most are on the New Jersey Turnpike...never do that again :)

thanks everybody! i think i'd rather get the hassle over with at the beginning of the trip, in NY, rather than change planes/terminals at heathrow and end up in Rome exhausted.

The flight over to Rome will be fine, hopefully uneventful. You'll be so excited to be in Italy. My advice is to not make the mistake we did and try to take a catnap in the afternoon the day you arrive in Rome. Just keep going if you can and maybe go to bed early.

I found the flight home very long and hard. It took 17 hours to LAX.

Maryann,
We used to make the trip from MD to MA on Turkey week...since you are from MA you know the drill...the best one was a return to MD trip when they actually made us get OFF the NJ turnpike at philly because there were too many cars on the highway WTF????? Sorry NJ lovers but that is just plain wrong.

crazy NJ turnpike!

Terri, 17 hours is a long time---makes me glad to live on this coast.

Thanks for all the help. I booked the trip.... when you stayed in Ostia Antica the last night, did you have a sense of how close the ruins were to where you stayed?
