Firt timers to STJ need help!

Post by cbrund1079 »

We have traveled to St Croix over 20 times on big family vacations now it will be just the 2 of us. We plan on arriving on Friday to STT and taking the ferry on Saturday to STJ beacuse our room is not available on Friday. Any advice on where to stay close to the Red Hook Ferry for Fiday night for a reasonable price. Just needs to be clean and safe. Should we rent a car or jeep in STT or STJ? We will be staying in Coral Bay in a small 2 room place. :?:

Although it's not close to RH, we've had good luck with the BW Emerald Beach. It's very close to the airport, also close to the CA ferry, and it has a good beach where you can just sit and get on island time or snorkle. The rocks to the left are the best snorkling. Their restaurant is also suitable for supper. You wouldn't have to leave the hotel until you head to STJ. If you prefer the RH ferry, it's the same taxi ride you would take the night before.

There are numerous threads on the pros and cons of renting cars on STT or STJ. We've always rented on STJ. We like the idea of having the agency close by and putting our money directly into the STJ economy. Since it is "our" island, we want to support them however we can.

We just changed our dates to staying 1 day later instead of 1 day earlier, so we no longer need a room for Friday 02/26/2010. Just booked a car with Thrifty in STT. Booked accommodations with Sail View I think we are all set!!!!

Glad to see someone that knows STX....we'll be leaving shortly for 7 months @ our condo. It will actually only be our 5th time down, (we bought last March & did go for 3 wks this summer) so I bet you have some special places, or favorites we should know about. Would love to hear them if you have time...pics a always good too! Thanks

Just had to wish you a perfect trip at Sailview. We've stayed there twice now and loved every minute. I'm glad it all worked out for you!
