There are several dive shops that are well known and experienced. Chris Sawyer has a shop in Caneel. 6pac is very popular with some divers as well. We have had our best experiences with Low Key. Their shop is next to the Beach Bar. They have some very good site that they go to. They put you on the boat and take you to the sites that they think will be best under the conditions prevailing that day and that week. We have also been pleased with all of the divemasters/instructors that we have encountered there.

There is a newer dive operation that we have not tried on STJ, but I don't know the name. Can anyone help out here? There are also several dive operations on BVI.

There are several low challenge sites like Mingo and Grass Cay. More challenging sites include Carvel Rock, Cow Island and Dog Island. A serious challenge due to currents can be found at the Major General Rogers. The best known dive in the USVI/BVI area is the wreck of the Rhone. We have not done that yet, but plan to next time.

Wecome to the Forum and STJ. Good luck with the trip.

Hey Pirate! I know that you will be in love with St. John and diving there! We went with Low Key the last time we were there. Out of the 2 days we dove with them the first was the best. The 2nd day they took us to the same spots, so I was a little disapointed. The people are definatly nice though and the first trip was great. I suggest that you try them first and then check out other charters for variety. I want to try 6 Pack the next time I go so I will be watching this post for info on that and others that are recomended. I did see a couple going out from one of the beaches we visited. I think it was Linster. They said that there was a good reef not far out. I am envious though. We have to wait until the end of next July to land in Paradise. You will be hooked!!!

we were in Virgin Gorda a couple years ago and I did the wreck of the Rhone. It is a great dive. All the dive sites in VI's are filled with great sea life.
