Beachfront Seclusion Required
Hey Folks
Anyone know of a good small, secluded, beachfront (or VERY near) villa other than Gibney?
I'm trying to help out a buddy and to the best of my VERY limited knowledge, the combination of beachfront & secluded is pretty tough to find on STJ.
Thanks!
Dave

I would not consider Gibney cottages secluded because of neighboring cottages and the frontage is on public land and Hawksnest Bay is within sight.
Calypso by the sea somewhat secluded. I believe the porch is private. Yard probably not so much as it is on Johnson Bay.
Honeymoon Cottage, close to Francis Bay and Leinster Bay. Set back in the woods.
There are a couple more but I cannot think of the names right now. Will return with them later.

Off the top of my head: Sea Spirit (not on the beach but walkable):

Honeymoon Cottage (same thing):

Calypso by the Sea (beachfront, not sure exactly how secluded it is)

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
You could look into the villa --- www.thebeachhousestthomas.com
Very private with your own beautiful beach.

I always thought that The Retreat out on the east end looked intriguing. http://www.the-retreat.us/index.html

... no longer a stranger to paradise
You can tell I'm not much of a sailor---I should have said we "anchored" off of Little Thatch.
Anyway, here is another intriguing, inexpensive beach cottage in the BVI:

Thanks gang. Those are some sweet villas and I'll pass those along. Some may be a little pricey but hey, I'm doing the research for free.
Toes...what's the deal at Gibney? I know the beach is public and in view of Hawksnest is no biggie but I didn't know there were other villas right there other than the other Gibney cottage.

Well, there's the other big house down the beach (I believe the Gibney family's?)--it's island stone with cool arches & old stone planters. To me, the quintessential St. John island home that I would buy in a heartbeat if I had the money and IF...
I could put up with all the day trippers enjoying the lovely beach in front of me and the bugs that come out in a vengeance once the sun goes to bed.
That's why, to me, you have the best of all worlds when you rent a lovely island home tucked away high up in the mountains. You get the lovely views, the 'big decision ' of each day: WHAT beach do we go to today?, and usually, because of the mountain breezes/tradewinds, NO BUGS!
