Tennis Villa

Post by BasUR »

Is anyone familiar with Tennis Villa in Great Cruz Bay? This area is a little crowded for me, but my kids really like this house (because of the private tennis court). Any opinions?

Parrots squaking on a wire...it's towards the end of the road so it's not so busy. You can hike down to Hart Bay. We stayed at Long View and could look down on Tennis Villa. It is on a large lot and the layout is beautiful.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

We stayed at Tennis Villa in 2006. Actually we had Tennis Villa and Tennis Cottage. It was beautiful. Unless it has been updated, the furnishings were a bit older - but we had small children with us and that was fine. The stove was great and the pool was a good size. There are three bedrooms in the main building and a wonderful separate room next to the pool. The Cottage is down a set of stairs and small path from the villa, but both are completely private.

I'm not sure where Chet is talking about. Tennis Villa doesn't overlook Hart Bay. It is between Great Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole. You can look out over Great Cruz Bay from the seeting area on the left side of the pool and Chocolate Hole from the right.

Very convenient to the Starfish - just over Jacob's Ladder.

The kids loved the tennis court/basket ball court. There was at least one villa cat, usually two, to feed.

jaq w -- Are there a lot of houses right there together or is there some privacy? We have stayed on that side of the island once, and I remember being able to hear people from other homes. I really prefer the North Shore, but I am trying to extend this trip to two weeks, one on STJ and one on Tortola. This is a good price and there is a tennis court!!! How easy is it to hike down to the beaches? Anything else about the house??? Thanks!

Debbie -

We never tried to hike down to the beaches, (but of course we were 16 people 5 - 65)so I don't know the answer to that.

As far as privacy - it was fine. No one within shouting distance really. There are some villas across the street, but they were down lower than you and the noise didn't travel. The way the place is set up you could probably go for the all over tan there.

I think Chet is referring to Great Expectations, which also has a private tennis court. That one is between Hart Bay and Chocolate Bay.
