If you were going to get a STJ tattoo....

Post by Xislandgirl »

what would it be?

I told myself that when I reached my goal weight I would get one...don't tell Chip, he will never believe it. (Chip, stop lurking  ) I am just a couple of pounds to goal, so I need to figure out what I want.

I am thinking a petroglyph, but I wonder if there is something that I am not thinking of that would symbolize the island.

Any thoughts?

CONGRATULATIONS on nearing your goal!!! Could a St. John hook bracelet be tattooed on? Or a hook anklet?

Minde, you stole my idea! I'd suggest a hook anklet tattoo. Could be really, really cool and subtle.

BTW, way to go on the goal!!!!!

X---Love the Petroglyph idea. How about a gecko? So much cuter than the usual fierce serpents you see on tattoos. Or how about a sea turtle? Again---such a friendly tattoo. Or maybe a panorama of Trunk Bay, or a drawing of Slimman (or his parking lot), or of the smoothie stand, or of the new roundabout---would take a real artist for any of those last ideas! Or maybe a tattoo of one of those Coral Bay road signs like "Clam Dip." That would probably take a lot of explaining though.

Notice what great ideas everyone has since it is not their bodies? I'd stick with the petroglyph. It is personal, intricate, classy and only those who know will know; where ever you put it. Bring a picture and see if the artist has any ideas about enhancing the basic shape. Oh, congratulations.

How bout a favorite St John beach shot incorporated into a tat. Maybe put it in the tramp stamp area. Naw that probably is to much for a first tat. I always thought some sort of beach scene would be cool though if I ever got one. Maybe Bevms infamous cherry pic, boy that would be fun explaining that one
Whatever you decide just make sure it's special to you and ya can't go wrong. Congrats on the weight loss 8)

I have a great tatt of petroglyph below shoulder blade. Sucked it up at 53 and went with 21 year old to get it done. We both love STJ, he worked at Maho one summer and decided he wanted one. He dared me to come with him and never thought I would. I am the proud owner of a caribbean blue petroglyph with dark blue outline! I have tried to incorporate it into this e-mail but I am challenged! If anyone can get it, it's an e-mail entitled "Hopefully, here are the pics!" dated 1/15/08. I can't seem to copy and paste it but it is an awesome tattoo and it's my one and only![/img]

Great job on the weight loss! I got a tattoo last year of 3 sea turtles. One for me and two smaller ones to represent my two children. It is so St. John to me! I love it. Whatever you decide, make it personal and meaningful to you.

And, find a nurse who can get you some of that numbing cream to put on beforehand - worked wonders and I could totally tell where it was and wasn't as the tattoo was being done!
