Airfare price fluctuations

Post by stltimmy »

Good Morning Gang,

Looking for past experience on this topic.

About a month ago, Delta had RT from STL to STT for 260/pp. We weren't set on our island wedding at this point, so I didn't purchase. Now, they are over 500. I have kicked myself several time in the arse, but such is life.

My question is, what are they pegging these prices to? It isn't capacity, as the flights are still wide open? Should I book now, or wait for another 'special deal' to come along?

Based on those who have monitored flights in previous years, are there any trends that you have noticed?

Thanks in advance, Ill hang up and listen,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Congrats on the upcoming wedding! Those prices that were there a few weeks ago are very abnormal!! We always check STL airfare along with leaving out of KC and they are usually about the same. We've had good luck with Delta, but usually have to pay more. If we can get flights at 500.00 we are usually happy. We've paid up to 650 for them before. If you find something you like and it's 500.00, I'd book it.

Good luck!

You can use yapta to watch them if you book and get some money back if they go down.

Tim,

I also fly out of STL, I just checked the prices and found prices under $400.00 per person minus taxes.
