casa bueno on mt bordeaux

Post by papabou »

returned last night after 10 days on st john, 6 nites at casa bueno and 4 at nautilus (return). will do longer post this weekend when i have time but did want to give a quick 5 star to casa b.

casa b had been owner ocuppied and we were 1st renters. so she was missing a couple of very minor staple/supplies of some rental villas but boy is she a great villa at unbelieveable intro rates of 250 nite including 8% tax for up to 4 people.

she's a vrbo at http://www.vrbo.com/251116 and pics don't come close to doing justice. if there are any specific questions about her, let me know on this thread or via pm and i will respond. sorry, no pics.

we wound up there for the 6 nites she was open when got concerned about lack of ac in 2nd bedroom of planned villa. well, she has full ac but with breezes and mountain protection from late afternnon sun, we never turned on ac. conversely used bedroom ac at nautilus (maria bluff) each evening. yes where you are matters on ac!

now if we can get back before casa b sells or books up on her intro rates!

What no pictures? Glad to hear that this house is indeed as good as it looks. Didn't you just love this location?? How did your wife (or as you say...bride) like this house and location?

How is that the place is listed as having 4 bedrooms but sleeps 2-6?

It looks great.

Thanks for the tip.

I believe they are only renting out 2 of the 4 bedrooms to cut down on wear and tear and expenses related to a/c etc :)

Glad to hear you loved it. We're booked for next June. I know, it's a looong way off, but at least we got the great rate. It's gone up 50. a night after Nov. 24th, but it's still a great deal. I'd love to hear ALL the details you can think of, and pics too, pretty please!! :D

Did they get that drippy ac fixed in the master at Nautilus? I love the veranda there, but you're right, ac is needed on that side of the island.

I'm staying there this week. We haven't used the AC at all. A few nights my kids asked us to shut the doors/windows because they were cold (I know - isn't that silly). This is my first stay in St.John and can't imagine staying anywhere else. We were in Cruz Bay yesterday and we were really hot/miserable. We drove back up into the mountain and it was nice and cool.

This place is amazing. The pool doesn't appear to get lots of sun but it was warm enough for us.

I have lots of pictures and I'll post them on the hotel/villa review page when I get back from vacation.

There is a safe now.

Since it is for sale - they did show it twice this week. Can't imagine it will be on the market long.

Drive way is pretty steep - we didn't use our 4WD but it was nice to know we had it. And, while others we met this week complained about skeeters we never had any problems.

How big is the pool? This looks like a great villa for our next years trip. We are a family of four. Can't wait to see pictures that anyone can post.

cg,

pool warm enough and i addressed in review post. no ac leak at naut and bride loved her veranda and the crashing surf. she thought n's veranda a lot like casa b but witha different view. yes, she was satisfied with locations (drives really) of both casa b and naut and even said she'd consider going back to either one if the right person invited her! women

peace

Sorry - I'll try to post a better review but here are some pictures. I tried to attach them but had a problem so I added them to a shutterfly account.

Looking at Casa Bueno for a future trip. How is the drive leading to the house? Are you able to see a sunset from there? Pros/cons from renting via VRBO?

Thanks for your help.

Drive is all paved and easy... great location for driving to North shore beaches.
No sunset view... loved the sunrises.
We had no cons renting via VRBO... very easy and very positive working with Marc Miller... http://jamesmmillerpropertymanagement.com/

You may read my VIOL review here:

And, don't hesitate to ask any other questions; several forum members have stayed at Casa Bueno.
