Okay, this is a bit much. Weren't we all talking about how warm it was this winter? Well, it is 15 degrees below zero right now. I need the webcam, I need the webcam, I need the webcam......

6 above where I am, with a steady breeze. We heat with a wood stove and are going through a bunch of wood quickly now. In MD the powers that be deregulated electric rates and the increases average 72% from last year. Heating oil is $2.65 per gallon. By heating with wood, that I hustle myself, we may be able to pull off another island trip this year. And so many demand AC in the villa on STJ....me, I'll bear with the heat anytime in trade for this nonsense!
Oh, for 85 degrees and appreciating a cold beer or a tasty concoction prepared by Donna at Shipwreck Landing, or Jean at Island Blues!
When you find yourself in a hole.... quit digging.

I hear ya, Sitter! A lot of schools in the Chicago area are closed, but our school district won't close schools unless things are extremely bad, so my daughter grumbled her way out the door this morning!

It was -15 temp and -32 windchill when I woke up and it's climed to -4 now!

I woke up in Chicago this morning planning to drive to Milwaukee - one city colder than the other. Found my car had a flat tire. Waited on the steet corner for 20 minutes (negative 5 at this point) for a cab to go to the train station. Train late. And cold. Arrived in Milwaukee an hour ago and still haven't taken off my cold, even though I am inside.

I just keep thinking 18 days until St. John. Warm. Beach. Sand.

It really is hard to believe that anyplace is warm today...

Los Angeles, early 80's today.
Meanwhile the high winds have arrived here in the northeast and the windchill is -14. We have had such a mild winter up here to this point that I didn't even plant my tulip bulbs until late December. That's a record....but now winter is here with a vengence. The colder it is these next few days the sweeter that first warm blast of tropical air will feel when we get off the plane.
