The Avatar is changed in your profile.

You should be able to select the file.

Hi John - You can do a couple of things. You can make your photo so it's only 50x50 pixels and 6KB in size and then you'd just upload the picture directly from your computer.

If you want a larger avatar, then make your picture about 125 pixels and upload it to a photo hosting site or the personal webspace that probably came with your Internet account. From there you paste the URL into the last line in the avatar control panel in your profile.

I hope this helps. If you need help reducing your picture, let me know and I can do that for you. :D

John, it's EXACTLY like a garage door, only different!

P.S. Your avatar could be the right "size" 50x50 px, but larger than 6KB and that would keep it from posting.

Don't feel back, I can't even figure out how to post one...
Hoping for a USVI ticker in 2013!

CAGirl - I am trying to add a new Avatar and the below is what I am adding into the avatar area, per your instructions above, but with no success. Could you look at the info below and tell me what I am doing wrong? I have the pic set at 125 pix.

On the first one, I am getting it from the Link area on Picasa...I put the ** at either end so a "true" link wouldn't happen in my example.

This is from the Link line and when I use it the error mssg I receive says that it is not a true URL:

**http:://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/e7Z_8hF0uprk8prZni3XoQ?feat=directlink**

This is from the Embedded image, and although it states jpg at the end, the message I get is that I need a jpg file:

http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/e7 ... site"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_gYtmgedRk-g/Snn52 ... 202009.jpg

Thanks in advance for whatever help you can give. :)

Boy-oh-boy... I know so little about Picasa. Have you posted pictures from there before? Not avatars, but pictures like in a trip report. If you've done that, I believe you would use that same link... only for an avatar-sized picture. Maybe someone who is more familiar with Picasa than I am knows. :?

I just found this over on the on-topic board. I think it answers your question. Now you just have to paste the code on the correct line in your profile. :)
mbw1024 wrote:looks like Picasa. JMQ posted instructions over on the OT board in the food porn thread the other day. Here you go:

With Picasa, with the photo you want from your web album open:
> click on “link to this photo” on the right hand side
> then select size, then click to check “hide album link”
> then click on the code in the “embed image” box to highlight it, then RIGHT click to have the “copy” option drop down. Click copy.
Then go to the post you are composing, hit the “Ctrl” and the “v” keys to paste into your post. Done.
No need to use the forum “img” code with this. Check in preview that the photo is there before you hit “submit”.

Sounds more complicated than it is, but it is pretty quick, as is doing the original upload to your web album from Picasa with one or 2 clicks after you crop or edit.
