Need a recommendation for the Great American Things blog

Post by Robin in NC »

On Friday, the Great American Things blog will have post number 100. And for some reason, I want it to be special, even though the actual numbers are irrelevant (it's not a ranking). Do you have a suggestion for number 100? If you haven't been to the blog lately, there are a lot of interesting new selections there. http://americanthings.wordpress.com

Thanks!

Since, it's All-star week for baseball and I just read a very interesting article about U.S presidents and the All-star game, I would suggest that.

I don't know how special it is, but it's timely.

Since it’s the 40th anniversary this month, how about something on the “Mission to the Moon” or call it something like “That’s One Small Step…”?
Easily one of the top American achievements ever.
There was a great first person recollection of it in the NYT the other day by the reporter who covered it and who wrote the famous NYT front page copy for it.

Great suggestions, everyone! A lot of these I have on my waiting list, but some are definite additions I hadn't thought of (or didn't know about, like the Clam Shack). Check the blog often, I'm sure you'll see some of these featured. And be sure to check on Saturday to see what was selected as No. 100. Thanks so much for your great ideas...

The talk about horse racing reminded me of the Kentucky Derby and My Old Kentucky Home.
