Suzuki Aerio or Jeep Wrangler

Post by Connie »

For our trip next May I received quotes from 2 different companies. We'll be down for 9 nights.

There's about a 200.00 difference in the above 2 vehicles.

We're staying on STT, but we will definetly come over on the car barge at least 2 times during that time.

We have always rented a Jeep, but we're wondering whether it would be ok with the Suzuki or should we just go with the Jeep again.

Any ideas?

We have always rented a Jeep Wrangler or a Vitara. I have never driven (or seen an Aerio) but if it is a front wheel drive you might be ok on paved roads like the North Shore. Expect that when it rains, you will slip on the hills especially on the steep uphill switchbacks and places where you might find yourself off pavement you will have to worry about ground clearance (parking, driveways, road to Lamshurs etc.). Since most of your time will be on STT I would consider the less expensive vehicle if it fits your needs for space (luggage & passengers).

We saw a Suzuki Aerio on St. John. We were behind it going up the switchback between Trunk and Cinnamon, and I honestly thought we'd have to back up and try again. It putted up the hill, but it made it. I do think the road was dry.

If it'll fit you and all your luggage, it would probably be OK. When I googled it, they said they race them in those races up Pikes Peak, so they must be OK on hills.
