New Mosquito Repellent?

Post by choochtex »

Anyone tried the new Off Clip on thingy? I'm headed there in 12 days and I'm planning on trying this thing out to see if it works well. If anyone wants to give it a try, here's a link to the product info and a coupon for a free refill. No I don't work for them, just trying to save everyone a little money.

Just saw it advertised for the first time last night.

Hey Chooch! We got ours already. Found them at Target. Supposedly they work quite well. We'll find out.

Haven't heard from you since Buffett...are you all still planning on being at the Beach bar on the 11th?

I used one when on the rock from May 27th to June 2nd. It helped some. I clipped it on my chair. I think it depended on how much the wind was blowing. My wife actually moved closer to me to get some protection. We have some friends that leave Tuesday for the week and they are going to give them a try also.

I guess this is an all North Texas post?

North Texas Mosquito's

Post by choochtex »

Well,,perhaps it's because we know the concept of being carried away by mosquito's....
I know I'm sweet and they love me, so I look for anything that's a little overboard on the protection front.
Heck, if I could get my propane mosquito killer on board, I'd be taking it!
LOL

Another thing I've been hearing a lot about is to put Listerine in a spray bottle and spraying the area with it. Sounds a little odd, I know, but from the people I've talked to it works quite well. I don't think the people spray it directly on themselves, just the patio area that they are sitting on.

Although we don't live in N. Texas any more (Dallas, 1977-91) can we chime in here?

We took two with us 6/15-24 and loved them. Each person needs their own. Take an extra refill and a pair of AA batteries for each clip on for every 5 days you will be there. They last about 12 hours each. They cover about 120 sf. If you calculate a circle, it amounts to a little more than a 6 foot radius. They are most effective when the user is standing still. Good examples would be the beach chair, eating a meal or sitting in the car. We had trouble finding them too. I found them in Home Depot.

Our Jeep had no back window. 'Skeeters would fill the car overnight and while at the beach. We clipped one on the driver's visor and another on the passenger's floor while loading the car. When we were ready to leave the car was more or less clear of them.

By the way, they don't emit an odor.

I was at our local Walgreens today and saw the clip things thre. They were $9.99 with a $3.00 register receipts rebate on them. Not sure how Walgreens sets their ads nationwide but they might be worth checking out.

I think we paid about $8.50 w/o a rebate.
