trip report 4

Trip report 4
Today is our trip to the BVI’s on New horizons II. Everybody is up early. Get Down to the parks dock at 7:30. The boat is right on time. Captain name is Chad and the first mates name is Daniela. Both are so beat and seem to be a lot of fun. There are 12 of us and 2 couples that got picked up on STT who are from MI. Didn’t get there names they were quit but then again a hard rock concert would be tame if put next to our group. We weren’t out of the harbor and there were painkillers and blood marys for all in our group.

The trip to Virgin Gorda the seas were up and it was quite rough. But the drinks were consumed and fill as we needed them. Daniela took our passports and we had an enough time to hit the head and do a little shopping before she cleared customs. Back to the boat and on to the baths moored off about 50 yards it was a nice swim in.

Daniela was an ever-knowable guide she explained the baths are the rocks and not the pools and how they are still being pushed out of the ground. She also showed us rock formations that look like animals we crawled through cracks and went into rooms that the normal person wouldn’t find. This is the first time that I have had a guide and found the experience much more enjoyable.

Well we loaded up the boat and headed for Marina Cay for lunch. About half way there alarms start to go off in the boat. Chad shuts down the engines and pops the hatch. It looks like we have blown a hose and one motor is down. So we start up again at less then half speed. Takes longer then they want just gives us more time to drink. We get to Marina Cay and Chad stays aboard to fix the broken motor. Lunch is great and you have to try a pain killer here they are rated by how strong they are 1 is the weakest and 4 the strongest I had a three it would straighten your toenails but oh so tasty. Had time to buy some 15 year old rum that I’m enjoying as I type this so if things get a little strange blame it on the rum.

Get back to the boat and Chad has It fixed off to Diamonds reef for snorkeling. There are so many minnows it’s hard to get pictures of the fish. Nice coral . Battery on my underwater camera just before I spot 2 huge Tarpon should of charged it last night.

We are off to Jost and the Soggy Dollar. Have to have pain killers here I think they are the best of the trip with the fresh nutmeg. Make sure you rinse your feet off before going into the shop there or you will be told to leave. The woman that was running it had a thing about poking the guy’s in the belly made her laugh. Nice relaxing time wishing we could stay longer when the horn sounds. Load back up.

Head back to STJ now we have to go back through US customs make sure you stay behind the blue line until you are called with as much as this group has drank it’s hard to follow orders. From customs we head over to Caps for dollar beers just what we need. Finally get a car load to head back to the villa. When the rest get back I order from Uncle Joes we ordered 8 meals and it fed the 12 of us with leftovers for lunches, Cheapest meal I’ve ever had on the island and it was so good. Fall into bed and pass out. Another good day in paradise.

Tom,
Great report to read on a very cold morning. I am seeing 9 degrees on my thermometer! Brrrrrrrr!
I love your day-to-day reports. I think I have a sympathy hangover just reading it! :)

Continuing to love the reports! I think the soggy dolar painkillers are the best too.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Wow, you bring it right to life....too bad we can't all be there with you! I remember those Soggy Dollar painkillers, too! Wish I had one right now. The pictures are great...all that sun and beautiful water, it's so cold here. Keep those great reports coming.
