One Night - STT or STJ?

Post by Tracy in WI »

Looking for you advice please! We are heading back to STJ for a week in June with our kids. We are planning to spend one extra night mainly due to the chaos at the STT airport on our return last year.

We are thinking of checking out of our place on St. John and then heading to St. Thomas for the last night and we would then have a return flight at around 4:15pm. We are looking for someplace not too far from the ferry dock (either is fine), someplace with a decent beach and a nearby casual restaurant, and hopefully someplace that will allow us a late check-out. We had considered the Best Western near the airport but don't know much about it.

Our other option is to stay one extra night on St. John - perhaps at the Westin. This will depend on the cost.

Anyone with advice? Thanks in advance!

Agree with Waterguy - spend the last day on St John. We spent the last 2 nights of our stay at the Inn at Tamarind Court and it was fine. Nice convenient location for a last night out on the town - and a good place for breakfast in the morning. We were even able to roll our bags down the hill to the ferry. I'd do it again next trip.

one night on STT

The last time that we took our kids, we had to stay on STT on the front end of our trip. We stayed at Secret Harbour. It is near Red Hook, has a nice beach and a good restaurant right on the beach.

It was great for our family of five b/c the room had a bedroom, den (with a sofabed) and a kitchen. The people there were so nice, too.

Another vote for Secret Harbour! It's really a nice place for a night or two, and it is not too expensive.

We stayed at the Bestwestern in St. Thomas. One night before going to St. John and then on the return. It has a nice Beach and a great bar and resturant. The rooms are very basic, but clean and the price is very resonable. It was nice not having to rush to the Airport. Great location just to chill out after a long flight.

its hard trying to find a place that will rent for 1 or two nights. we have the same problem for this july. we are renting villa bougainvilla in cruz bay. renting through donald schnell artistic villas. check it out, thought it looked good for the price and we love being able to walk into cruz bay. good luck. i definitely vote for staying on st john.
