Wisconsin summer forum part- Let's find a date!

Post by sea-nile »

OK,
So we need to narrow down a date for this bash.
How about if everyone who is interested let me know what dates they CAN'T come and party. You can PM me or attach it to this post.
Then I will cross off all of the "no" dates on the calendar and hopefully we can come up with a date.
So, if you know that someone is interested and you haven't seen them on the forum, PM or e-mail them.
If you are available all weekends let me know that too.
I will be out of town Mon-Wed this week. (I may be able to check the forum on Tuesday night). This will give everyone a chance to respond and by Friday I can have a date narrowed down.
Does that sound OK?

This will be great!!

Sounds like mid-July works best from the responses I've seen. We are also available then. How about July 14th?

Tracy,
That might work, however let me know what dates you are definitely not available, then we can narrow it down.
Thanks,

I don't think we have any weekend plans yet, so mark us in the "any weekend" column.

So far, any weekend would work for us, too.

So far, July 14 is looking OK. Let's give it until Friday when I'm back in my office and we can narrow it down. I am still waiting on a few responses.

I was wondering if there is a hotel/resort on the lake that we will be going out on. That way we wouldn't all have to be on the boats at the same time. We could go out in shifts and the others could party at the resort. I don't know Madison very well. I just got back from a 2 day conference there and I realized how foreign it is to me!

Marcia and Pete - please chime in on this as well.

I don't think there are any resort or hotels on the lakes except for The Edgewater which is on Lake Mendota. The problem with that is that it is a bit difficult to get to from the lake our boat is on and the lake where Pete and Marcia live. You have to go through Lake Monona, through the Yahara River, through some locks and then to the hotel. If Lake Mendota is choppy, my boat doesn't do so well!

Lake Waubesa area might be best because there are 3 restaurants/bars that we can hit and it is close for both of us boat owners.

We can work all the details out, just some preliminary thoughts!

Hey...I have a High School friend that has a tavern on the lake in Madison...not sure which one...or which lake...guess I'll have to check that out!

July 14th works just fine for us!

There isn't any kind of resort that sits on any of the lakes, it's not like Lake Geneva at all. And, I'm with Tracy on the idea of taking our boat up to Lake Mendota...unless it's a really calm day, it can get dicey. We could all just meet up at either of the three bar/restaurants on Lake Waubesa and hang out there. Probably the most fun would be Christies. They have a tiki bar kind of thing and lots of outdoor seating. The food there isn't anything to write home about though.

Wow...my High School friend married a rich one...they own 3 places on Lake Mendota & now have a "cruise boat tour" thing going! "VonRutenberg Ventures"
I haven't talked to her in years...but it is our High School reunion this year....so I'm sure she will call me to see if we are going!

You both seem to know this area better than me....so whatever you plan will be great!! I can't wait! Should we have a countdown!!!

Sitter -

Those are three good restaurants too! And they own the Betty Lou Cruises which go out on two of the lakes. We try to make it over on the very far end of Lake Mendota at least once ot twice a summer to go to the Nauti-gal restaurant. They have very good food! Small world!
