NEW reduced ferry schedule CA - UPDATE

Post by Pia »

OK, this is only a partial post as I don't have all the times that have been cancelled, so I will add to it later with a full update, but I thought I would post now so if there is anyone travelling in the next few days you will have a heads up and be prepared to rethink your plans.

Les just left on the 8am RH for a full day meeting on STT, and called to let me know that there is a sign in the ticket booth window stating that 3 of the 5 CA ferries, both ways, have been cancelled until further notice. Unfortunately he couldn't remember the exact six  but he did remember the last ferry both ways (the 3:45pm from Cruz Bay and the 5:30pm from CA) have been cancelled - I know the last ferry makes no sense right - as well as the 9:15am from Cruz Bay. I just called the main office for the ferry company and they had not yet been informed (welcome to island time :) ) but said she will know later today so I will call this afternoon. Les is also going to write them down when he arrives home but that won't be until 5pm or so.

Happy travels everyone

Pia

OK, I'll post what Les reports back when he returns home as to what is still posted in the window of the ticket booth, but I just got off the phone and the update is that there is only one boat running and the two that were cancelled this morning (the 3 and 5:30) are now back on but might be cancelled before the end of the day - so good luck figuring out times :)

She did not know when the boat may be back up and running again - helpful I know.

I'll post again later

UPDATE...................

OK, as of 5:30pm the sign is now down so we assume all is well and it is back to normal at least until after Festival which is when they usually go to a reduced summer schedule.

Just check with your cab driver if you arrive in the next few days to see what is running that day :)

From Cruz Bay to CA they are - if they are running the full schedule - 7:15am. 9:15am 11:15am 1:15pm 2:15pm and 3:45pm

I heard that they have cut some of the Red Hook ferry trips for the summer. Know anything about it? I have family coming in this week and they get in after 8 p.m. I know that they won't make the 9 p.m. ferry but someone told me that they are no longer running the 10 ferry - just doing a 9, 11 and midnight run from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. Please tell me this isn't so!!! I hate the idea of them having to sit at the ferry dock for that long of a time.

That happened last year but later in the season - Aug/Sept/Oct time - but as far as I know they are still running the full RH ferries and probably will until at least after Festival
