Gallows Point Harbor View?
Gallows Point Harbor View?
OK Gallows experts..I have been able to book a lower harbor unit at Gallows for $500 less a week than a more "preferred" location.. We are trying to keep our expenses down and that money we "save" we can use as our "fun" money to put towards trips to Jost etc...But the posts about the harbor views have me very apprehensive..i'd appreciate any HONEST feedbank about this location and units. so I can prepare myself and reconsider if I need to..Thanks!!
Donna, you will enjoy the lower unit and you will enjoy the harbor view. It is very hard dislike anything about Gallows. Sure you'll hear the ferry coming in but just go right back to sleep. Heck, we can hear it in 9A.
We go down at carnival time every year and can hear the music from carnival village till 2.00 am. Somehow it doesn't bother me. Some people it does.

Frankly Donna, we love the harbor units and might even prefer them. I love a harbor view to watch the boats coming and going. You can still see the beautiful sunset and twinkling St. Thomas. The only thing, IMO, that could possible be an issue is if you sleep late, the early ferry (I think it's 7:00am) makes some noise coming in. And if you turn in early you can sometimes hear the music coming up from town. We sort of enjoyed that because when the kids were little they would konk out and we could sit on the balcony (or patio, as will be the case with the lower units) and feel the wonderful breeze with a delicious rum concotion and listen to the music. Very romantic. We were allways up with or before the first ferry came in so that wasn't an issue either.
Speaking of the breezes, it is my opinion that the harbor units are better situated to pick up the incredible breezes of the trade winds. That said, the ocean views are wonderful, too. Have no worries at all, it's all relative. Wonderfully relative.

Marcia and PromoGuy,
Thank you sooo much:) ...I am an early riser and quite frankly when tired can sleep anywhere...Last year, we spent a week in Coral Boy with our kids in a villa and can't imagine anything can be more annoying than the roster who started up at 4:00 am...If I had been able to find him, he may have wound up on the table at Chateau Bordeaux..lol. I don't think I'll have a problem with harbor sounds..I was more concerned the folks taking the ferry would be lined up in front of my bedroom door...and our view would be of some restaurant dumpster..lol. Several reviews I read also described the harbor rooms as "run down" ..to me that means rusted out fridges with no handles, 20 year old mattresses and screens falling off the doors...I figure if it is as bad as all that we could sleep in one of those hammocks on the little beach

roosters!
Aw,come on now....My wife and I like the roosters.They get us out of bed so we can see the sun rise,and a early start for the beach so that we can have it all to ourselves!
When I was a child my family raised chickens so I guess i'm used to them.Dan{Dappledox}
