Thank You Fourmites
The time has come and the waiting is over. It has been a long year with my black lab Riley going through two knee surgeries and then me getting laid off. My main focus is just getting us to St. John and blowing off the steam. We are usually very laid back people and take it day by day but man I tell you this has been a tough one. I just can’t wait for myself and Nicolle to get down there and let the rock work its magic and help us get us back to who we are.
I really want to thank all of you on this forum for the trip reports and ideas that I have read since being a member. It amazes me that a group of people like you that share the love for St. John reach out and help one another like you all do. From doing someone a favor or just showing support through words when the time is needed. Some of you really know how to make people laugh and in this rat race we live in today that is a priority.
I am really looking forward to meeting a few of you folks on Sunday at the Beach Bar. It will be nice to put some reality on the faces and words from this forum.
Again, thank you all. You are all really great people.

Right back at ya Mike!
It always amazes me what seems possible when I'm on STJ. I have gone down sick as a dog after being hospitalized with acute bronchitis and lung infections for nearly two weeks.
I have gone down after the death of a parent and my experience near the Pentagon on 9/11.
I have visited STJ in good times and bad. And no matter what, the minute I set foot on island the health issues, the worries, the pain just seems to melt away.
I was reading a story in one of my various STJ books about Robert J. Oppenheimer who owned property next to the Gibney's at Gibney Beach.
At some point in his life that man must have felt the weight of the world on his shoulders being a significant part of the invention of one of the most devastating weapons ever invented.
But he claimed that he felt at peace of STJ. He felt that there was something magical about STJ. Someone said he believed in Vortexes of positive energy that exist on certain places on the planet (kind of like the ones in Sedona) and he believed that STJ was one of those places.
While I'm not so sure about all of that (my cursory research into Vortexes didn't yield much) and I am a cynic at heart who enjoys reading the occasional book on quantum physics ("Who's Afraid of Schroedinger's Cat?") I do know this: STJ is a healing place. And if you open yourself up to the possibilities of what is around you, anything is possible.
Have a fantastic trip!

Maybe we will bump in to each other. If you see a guy with a Red Sox hat on backwards with a one heck of a good looking woman you know its me.teefal wrote:Have a good one Mike. We may pass each other on the road next week (wed on), though we'll miss each other at the Beach Bar. I've enjoyed reading your many posts.
