Yes, it is. But when I called it the "low-income housing" the Islanders laughed and said,"We can't call it that. It's affordable housing".lprof wrote:Terrific pics...especially like the blue sky in the second. Are the blue roofs in the second the new Calabash construction project? (don't recall what it is called) Thanks!
It's actually not bad looking but I know the Coral Bay residents fought hard against it. But there really is a need for it on-island. I wonder what they consider "affordable" on STJ??

Bill your photos are great. What're you talking about? My camera is a Canon SD880 IS and included in the software that came with it is an application called "Photostitch", and it does all the alignment and blending. I usually go in after the fact in Photoshop and blend the seams. Sometimes the sky or water doesn't exactly match. I used this program before with my Canon SD400, but the camera itself didn't have a Photostitch setting, so I just "eyeballed" it. My new camera has a setting for stitching so it makes it easier to line up the shots so they have the same horizon line. Funny, I was having trouble with the Photostitch setting on my camera during our trip and it wasn't until the LAST DAY that I actually looked at the back of my camera and saw an arrow telling you to shoot from right to left. Duh. It lines up perfect that way! Guess I'm a little dyslexic. I'm left-handed and I don't have any problems driving on St. John. I guess it was just natural for me to pan from left to right.
I went a little crazy on the Little Harbor pano and stitched 10 shots together. I wouldn't recommend it, but it turned out pretty good this time. The one of Coral Bay was 3 or 4 shots.

Thanks for the info. We have a small Canon we use primarily for underwater shots with the waterproof case. If I'm not mistaken it has a photostitching setting on it, but I've never had the nerve to try it. After seeing these pics, I may try it the next time on-island.
Thanks again for sharing the pics.
