Another reason to love Jost.

Post by AnyTing »

As though there aren't already plenty of reasons, here's one more that just makes me smile.

So, we are heading to Jost on a Sunday and we want to have lunch at Sidney's. I figure we'll take the ferry over, get a car, do our own thing. Right? I call Paradise and tell them I'd like to reserve a car for the day. Here's the conversation:

"What day you comin'?"

"Sunday."

"Ooooohhhhhh......mmmmmm.....we don' open on Sunday."

"Oh, okay, well, thanks."

"Weeeelllllll......mmmmmm.....maybe somebody come in on Sunday."

"Uh..."

"Na, we not open on Sunday."

"Okay."

"But somebody might wan' come in for you on Sunday."

"Uh...?"

"What time you comin'?"

"In the morning. About 9:00?"

"When you leavin'?"

"That afternoon."

"The same day?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Okay. Ya name?"

"Vicki H."

"Ya. Okay."

"Okay?"

"Okay."

"Um....okay....thank you.....Good-bye."

"Good bye."

I have no freakin' idea if I just rented a car or not....but that's the beauty of the place, isn't it??? You gotta' love it.

Makes me laugh! I'll be anxious to hear if you rented a car! I agree, that is part of what makes the islands, the islands!

True Dat. Worst case scenario you can always grab a taxi .... or ... tie two chickens together and hope for the best....

Oh I can't wait to hear about this.

It reminds me of our first trip to STJ. We rented from Penns. Totally freaked me out and I was convinced we would arrive to find no rental.

Are you taking any of your husband's buddies this trip?

That is the kind of thing that would drive some people crazy, but if you can put yourself into an island state of mind then it is all OK.

LOL! Kinda reminds me of the day I called to rent a Jeep on Anegada for the day.

The shortest phone conversation I've ever had in my life, no joke.

I also had not a clue as if we'd have a car when we got there or not. We did.

I love how they do no nonsense, honor system, down to business, business. It's refreshing.

That's hysterical but so very predictable for Jost. At least to anyone who's ever stayed there. It just that laid back. I'm sure that when you arrive, there will be no one at the car rental but as soon as you find someone to ask, they will call their Aunt/Uncle who will call his/her cousin and in 10 minutes they will show up to give you your car
