F The Economy i'm Going To St. John
Sitting in my office yesterday during lunch and checking out the forum and spice cam. In walks the boss and says we need to talk and you’re not going to like it. Orders aren’t coming in and the work just isn’t there. He says I hate to do this because you’re the #2 guy in this place and it’s all about the money. Blah blah blah…I get the hint. He says he wants me back as soon as he can. Of course I won’t wait, who would.
Here’s the kicker…..
I shake his hand and tell him it’s been a good run, thank you for everything. He stops me as I start to walk away and says….”I hope this doesn’t stop your trip to St. John”
I smile and say, nothing can do that my friend.
1 MONTH AND COUNTING BABY TO….

Hey BostonMike
I am with you! When I lost my job my husband and I said that nothing was going to keep us from going on our trip. Luckily we stuck to our decision because as you saw from my other post I was able to find another position very quickly.
Here's to hoping you have similar luck! If not, use your vacation to refresh and relax and come back a new man. Too bad our vacations aren't overlapping enough. We could toast the economy together!

You guys and gals are really great people, thanks for the comments.
Beach day has been mentioned to the wifey. Maybe we can edge her on some more if ya'll just come up to her and start singing happy birthday to her out of nowhere. That will break the ice
Besides, I told her I had a race to watch between brenda and the capt.

I got the same news at the beginning of March and we were due on island at the end of the month for two weeks. And of course we went. I had been with the same company for 34 years and I had the opportunity, nay the privilege of filing my first unemployment claim on line while overlooking Pillsbury Sound drinking a coconut rum, seltzer and lime. I turned to my wife and said for some odd reason I don't think it gets any better than this. We laughed for quite awhile.
No really, I have started my job search. I'm taking everyone I know out for lunch and claiming it on next year's taxes as part of my job search expenses. I have a very patient wife.

Sorry to hear that. 34 years is a long time man. Heres a hoist of rum in the air to the important things in life. A patient wife and the rock!BillVT wrote:I got the same news at the beginning of March and we were due on island at the end of the month for two weeks. And of course we went. Here, here! To the Rock and good women! Like I said, it doesn't get much better. Enjoy your trip. Gerald Singer says the water is warming up.
About the other thing, I'm not worried, something will come along. I think I was peering over the edge and someone just pushed. When your old, your expensive.
