Last Minute Question: Family Fun in Dallas?
Leaving early tomorrow to go to Dallas for the weekend for a family wedding (nephew in-law). We're staying at a hotel/resort with a pool. Tomorrow I plan on hanging by the pool with the kids while DH golfs with the menfolk.
On Saturday, the wedding is in the evening. We'll probably hang by the pool some more, but any other ideas? I've only been to Dallas a few times and never really did much there. Our kids are 10 and 12; we all like to be active.
I know it's last minute but if anyone has some ideas, that would be great!

I am on the phone with my best friend in the whole wide world from Texas. She said if you are staying at the Wolf Lodge you probably won't have to go anywhere else. I don't know if you have boys or girls or a little mix. You can go to the Galleria, they have an indoor ice arena and fun shopping. My friends son said to go to Dave and Busters, they have pool tables, laser tag, bowling alley and pinball.
She said the Dallas Zoo or the Fort Worth Zoo are good too.
Have fun!!

we never touch someone so lightly that we don't leave a trace
Dallas for kids
I'd check on line...it's should show you tons of fun stuff to do. Have fun!
Where you go depends on where you are staying and whether you have a car. If you can, ride the light rail system to get around. It's a pretty slick system. You can park at an outlying station and ride into town.
I would say yes to the Dallas and FW zoos. I would also offer the West End. It's near downtown and on the light rail line. There are shops, restaurants and other activities. The Kennedy assination site is about three blocks away. You can go to the sixth floor and stand where Oswald stood and see what he saw. The museum district in Fort Worth is also a good way to spend a day.
There is also an aquarium. Check with the hotel for the details on that.

Thanks all! We will have a car, and we're staying at a resort near a small lake. I'm going to see if we can rent some kayaks or canoes; or maybe we'll check out one of the zoos or some of your other ideas. I already checked on the rodeo in Fort Worth, which would have been fun, but it's only at night.
Thanks again! Have a great weekend and for those who celebrate it, a peaceful and happy Easter.

How about the King Tut exhibit at the Downtown Dallas Museum? It is in its final week.
Also, Saturday is going to be a nice day, but Sunday is supposed to rain. Try to save the indoor stuff for Sunday. Do you golf? We have plenty of that here. You could also take the kids to SpeedZone. It is off of 35 and Walnut Hill Lane. A bunch of different types of racing and indoor games as well. We have a couple of Dave & Buster locations that may be fun on Sunday when it is raining. By the way, the Ft. Worth Zoo is the better zoo to go to if it is not that far from where you are staying. You said by a lake, but we have a ton of man-made lakes in the DFW area. Several of the lakes have rentals and that would be fun on Saturday. We also have a Six Flags amusement park. It is in Arlington. That would take up the whole day on Saturday.

Thanks John and everyone else!
We stayed at the Gaylord Texan and it was very nice. Friday afternoon we hung out by the pool. Saturday morning we went to the Stockyards in Ft. Worth. Kind of touristy and cheesy, but fun. It was nice in the afternoon so we went back to the pool. (I never did find a place to rent kayaks, canoes, or bikes to see the lake, but we had a great time anyway.)
We left early this morning to come back home -- it was a short and sweet trip.
All the staff at Gaylord Texan -- front desk, wait staff, housekeeping -- was extremely friendly. The wedding was very nice too.
Thanks Dallas for the hospitality!
