Good News for the STJ Homeless

Post by ShipwreckPat »

I just received an email informing me that with the
help of the Governor's office, Police Department and the Health Department, three of STJ's homeless, including Patrina and Greenie, have been institutionalized. Hopefully they will now get the help they need and will be able to return to our community without disrupting
and disturbing our visitors.

Thanks to all of you that have offered to help with this situation.

Nice post. Greenie didn't really disturb anyone, but you still felt kinda sad.

Hey Jorgie,

Luna is doing great right now (she is on her meds) and in Cruz Bay - hubby helps her out every Friday and she brings him flowers :)

Thanks for posting that Pat. When I saw Luna in Novemeber she was doing much better.
Hopefully she can stay on the meds.....who pays for them or are they donated?
Either way that is a blessing

So glad to hear they are getting help! I remember Trina was building a shelter out of boxes the day before Omar and it about broke my heart.

Greenie is not harmless all the time. He has had several episodes where he has lashed out physically at passersby and in at least one instance was pantless at a children's playground....

Good to hear, we had a Patrina run-in on Sunday. She asked me for money for Orange Juice and I responded with my usual "not today" and got the full "Mutters**** White B****rd" stream of invective. What was interesting was that I had a bunch of local residents immediately jump to my aid. When I said "Not so bad, She didn't even spit this time." There was laughter all around, "Oh, you know her?!"

We chatted with some of the folks for a bit and reminisced to a time when all of the homeless were on their meds simultaneously. Maybe soon come.

Cheers, RickG
