massage therapy at the villa

Post by Marcia (Mrs. Pete) »

For Christmas my children gave me a gift of a massage while Pete and I are on vacation. Now, my task is to find the right massuse to do this...I've looked in the archives and found Barb and Carry highly recommended. Their website is a little sparse though. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Here is what I want/don't want:
Want a professional, not a chatter box...just want a good massage.
Do not want a "couples" thing where there is "training" I just want a massage.
Do not want a sales pitch of any kind. I just want a massage.
Any suggestions?

We did www.mermaidmassage.com Her name was Lisa Danforth and she was not a chatter box and did a good job. The price to come to Bongo Bongo was $100/hour. She brought music and her table and was very unobtrusive. She let herself out while we were having cocktails on the patio. I can't remember if she did aromatherapy or not. Her website is under construction I see. It shouldn't be down long. SHe was very nice and on time. She travels back and forth between Atlanta and STJ.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the responses so far...I'm hoping Bandit doesn't chime in...he might have funny ideas about the whole massage thing. But, I'm serious here.

Thanks wontongirl.

In looking for Lisa it turns out a more up to date web site is Mermaidmassage.net (rather than .com).

It has her eamil address and phone etc. We'll give her a try in February.

Hi,
I got a massage from Nomadic Spa at our villa. I e-mailed beforehand and told them that I needed something like deep tissue and not a light touch swedish massage.I got the stone massage and waqs not dissapointed. Two people came to set up and then left one person to do the massage. It was great. I have never felt the need to talk unless I wanted to.

Thanks! We live in the Atlanta area and will be on St John this summer. I sent Lisa an email to inquire about her services and to see if she also has a salon in Atlanta. If so, we'll check her out!

In August, we had Cary and Barb come to the house to massage the 2 ladies in the group. the men went to the East End for the day.

The ladies loved it and still talk about the whole experience.

Hey Marcia...when are you going down...our daughter is going to school for that NOW & she could come with you & give you that massage whenever you want the whole vacation!!!

We just got back in Dec. & brought her down with us for the last 4 days. She is all ~open-eyed~ thinking she could soo move down to St. John & do facials & massages for all the resorts! She is looking for anything to get her outta Wisconsin!!

I got the following response from Lisa with Mermaid Massages:

Hi Jo,

I'm no longer in St. John and now I'm in Atlanta full time. I can refer you to Julie Falkenstein with Healing Touch in St. John. She is awesome. Her # is 340-626-2271.

I do have a studio in Atlanta. I'm located at Chamblee Tucker Rd and 85 near Spaghetti Junction and Mercer University. If I can be of assistance to you give me a call - 770-289-8062. I hope you enjoy St. John!

Kindest Regards,

Lisa Danford

Barb was great

Hi Marcia...Barb came to our villa and gave my wife a massage, and she was excellent. She answered whatever questions Jeannie asked, but certainly wasn't a big talker. There were long stretches of silence, as she did her work and Jeannie just relaxed. She's highly recommended.

Okay Marcia, trust me on this one. I had the best massage of my
life on St John and can't wait to get back in Feb to get another!!
I live in NYC and have had many massages but Cathy on St John was
by far the most educated and technically adept massuesse I've ever had. She is also a physical therapist and she really knows how the whole
body works and is put together. Her number is 340-693-9021. Tell her
Ilene in ny suggested to call and she'll fit you in if she can. ENJOY!!!

We used Nomadic Spa last summer. They were great. They set up on the verandah overlooking the BVI's. The view was beautiful and the breeze was wonderful! It just doesn't get any better. That was the most relaxed that I have ever been.

We did a couples treatment. I got a massage while my husband got a coconut scrub and then we switched. It took about two hours. We went to Little Cinnamon that afternoon and slept the rest of the day away!

We are trying to figure out how to do it again this year. We are taking our 3 children (we take them every other year).

You will not be disappointed with Nomadic Spa.

dwarren,
I was just looking at their website, and that looks like a good choice. Would you do anything differently? The massage and coconut scrub sound great! Thanks for the link!
