Yeah I am not proud to admit that I picked a vendor once soley on the fact she knew what a hook bracelet was and correctly id' mine as STJ. Ok, she was competent too ... but the STJ factor sealed the deal.
I have the bracelet and a ring and earrings. One day a customer said, "You like St. John?" and then she pulled up her sleeve and showed me hers. She said, "You have excellent taste!" And I agreed!!
Yep, it happened to us! We were at a very large table at a DU banquet a couple years ago and we were chatting with the guy seated next to us and then he asked if we vacationed in the islands. I said, well yes, St. John, (rather surprised), and then he pointed to our bracelets and flashed his!!
Is there a shop at Caneel Bay? I think she got the bracelet there.
I'll admit this...she didn't know what the petroglyph was. She thought that the symbol just represented Caneel Bay...where she recently honeymooned(that is why I think there may be a store there.) But I will ask her where she purchased it.
I told her about the petroglyph. I loved her petroglyph bracelet, too.
My friend bought me one at one of the shops in Cruz Bay except mine is a more petite version because I have a small wrist. Sorry I don't know the name of the shop.
I was at a meeting last week and as it adjourned, I idly mentioned that I was on St. John the week before. One of my co-counsels says "St. John? I love St. John....I'll be there in a month."
I look at him in a totally different light now. As if "he gets it".
CariBert, This time she got the petroglyph story. Next time, I'll instruct her how to wear her hook bracelet to indicate she is taken. She doesn't need to think I'm a STJ freak right off the bat.
