Drying Out

Post by vi lover »

Got back on February 15th from a fabulous week on STJ.

Then - Ash Wednesday rolled around and in my quest to be a fully-participating Catholic boy, for lent I gave up .......... RUM! (okay - liquor but I mostly drink only rum).

It's been a week now and I don't have the "shakes", but boy do I want a Cruzan and Diet!

5 Weeks and 2 Days to go!

Thanks for your support!

We're in the same boat! We got back last Thursday and my husband has given up all forms of alcohol until early April in some sort of weird preparation for the Boston marathon. He went out for a work dinner last night to his favorite restaurant - they also serve his favorite martinis. He survived on Diet Coke!

I think it's going to be more difficult for me than him - I don't like drinking alone. I'll survive though!

Which restaurant? We're always in search for a good martini.

I gave up chocolate. On Easter, I am getting the biggest, baddest chocolate bunny I can find and eating until I pass out. This has seriously been the hardest week of my life. I gave up booze one year, and it was nothing compared to this.

It especially sucked when I wanted hot cocoa on my snow day.

Why is it that everyone on this website is obsessed with alcohol and food? I mean REALLY.

You two girls are not right!

I'm a fat, Polish, Irish, Catholic girl. I was doomed.

That explains me, but the other 2,000+ will have to come up with their own reasons.

We are most definitely NOT right.

Its either STJ STJ STJ or food and booze. No wonder I love it here!

FF - I saw a post that, for a minute, I thought was really going to spice things up. Apparently, I completely misread the title.

"Depressed Virgins" was about the economy.

There are other things besides food, alcohol, and STJ?

Those depressed virgins might be on to something.

O.K. so I'm not religious but if I had to give up something, I think it would be liver or something I don't like. That's just me being selfish  ....

Lulu - my wife gave up Chocolate this year and she got BIG TIME cravings yesterday. So of course our daughters began teasing Mom with Brownie and Fudge stories. They thought that was hilarious!

That's just cruel. I don't know how I'm going to make it five more weeks.

Since I grew up Catholic, but am now a Methodist, I get the whole lent thing. I heard something on the news about the Pope suggesting that people give up technology for lent. No texting, I-Pods, FORUM! How is that even possible??
