RSVP Vacations
Eastern Caribbean Cruise
Holland America's Eurodam
February 21 - 28, 2009; roundtrip Fort Lauderdale

RSVP charters the newest ship in Holland America's upscale fleet -- the
Eurodam -- for a fun-filled one-week Eastern Caribbean adventure from Ft.
Lauderdale. Besides enjoying Holland America's refined dining options in
the main and specialty restaurants, RSVP guests will enjoy fantastic
amenities such as the fabulous Greenhouse Spa, the Vista Show Lounge (with
amazing gay entertainers brought onboard just for this cruise), spacious
accommodations, Holland America's plush Euro-top Mariner's Dream beds,
deluxe robes, Egyptian cotton towels, flat panel TVs and DVD players.

The port calls of Grand Turk, San Juan, St. John and Half Moon Cay
(Bahamas) on this one-week classic Caribbean cruise are complemented by
two full days at sea, giving the 2,100 gay and lesbian guests onboard
plenty of time to enjoy RSVP's varied onboard activities and parties -- or
to just relax and unwind with newfound friends.

Does this mean that STJ will be overloaded with cruise ship passengers on some days?

I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Good for the economy of STJ, but with the Island being so small, it will get crazy like havensite.

Wow...big ship and small island.

My thoughts: Why would a line park a ship like that at StJ? They must be getting a deal on docking rights or something. You can't dock there, necessitating tenders. There's less for people to do on StJ than over across the channel. I wonder if this is an experiment or a sign of things to come.

I got to StJ for the first time while on a cruise. We came over from StT (like everyone else).

I don't see how this could be good. The infrastructure of the island (public bathrooms, shopping, etc) may not be able to handle that many people all at once. Plus, I could see a "typical" cruise passenger hating StJ. You know who I mean...she's from NY...she's got on huge sunglasses and a huger hat. She frowns a lot. She does NOT like dirt.

I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

Um, no, it's nothing at all like Havensight here today.
It's actually been a fun day so far. Merchants are happy.

That's a big boat!

I hope they all come shop at your stores, Ruth!

If you read the article more closely -- I doubt very much that these passengers are..."..."typical" cruise passenger hating StJ. You know who I mean...she's from NY...she's got on huge sunglasses and a huger hat. She frowns a lot. She does NOT like dirt. "

Point taken...I'll admit to not reading the whole article.

I had the day off today but ventured into town. It was great to see so many people enjoying our little piece of heaven. I love the look on their faces when they see St. John for the first time, it makes me smile every time.

I'm happy for the merchants on St. John! This is a great little boost in a slow economy. (But when the economy improves, I hope the ships go away. LOL! )
