Birding??
Hey folks,
Had a question from someone on our upcoming cruise - are there any good spots for birding on St John? Other than bananaquits, I can't honestly say that I've seen a lot of exciting birds on-island (other than the usual odd birds wandering around Cruz Bay)
, but then I'm no naturalist! Any birders out there who have an opinion? Thanks in advance,
SteveO.

I am not an expert birder at all, but your friend might want to try the Francis Bay walking trail. It is flat and goes to the Salt Pond behind Francis Bay. Have them go early in the morning for the best sightings. I think we went around 7:30.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Bring LOTS of bug spray for the above. My wife and I attempted this walk unprotected and we were chased back to our vehicle.liamsaunt wrote:I am not an expert birder at all, but your friend might want to try the Francis Bay walking trail. Here's a blog entry from someone who did some birding on STJ. Depending on what time of year you go, you may find some familiar migratory birds on STJ along with the "locals."
