San Juan & Duty free Question

Post by tralei714 »

Does spending the night in San Juan and having to recheck bags affect the amount of bottles you bring back from U.S.V.I ?

Oh and thanks pia. I made reservations at Da House. I will report back : )

I believe Joshie's correct. Also, you can buy alcohol at the duty free store at San Juan airport and carry it on board (we did this in December). That way you don't have to worry about protecting it in your checked luggage. Their prices were very competitive-they put the liquor into a special bag with a locked strip on it -I assume to show that it was purchased at duty free.

And we stayed at Da House a year ago. We liked it for the one night-feel free to message me if you have any questions. :D

I just want to make sure it won't mess up the alcohol I've bought on St. John. Like limits being different.
Thank. 16 days !!!

So if we buy alcohol during our layover in San Juan and then have a connection in Chicago before we reach our final destination in Michigan are we going to be able to have the alcohol in our carryon between Chicago and home?

If you buy your alcohol once inside security in San Juan you will carry it on - as long as you do not exit the secured terminal for your connection in Chicago you are fine but do not go outside for a smoke, or if you arrive in one terminal in Chicago and leave from another terminal that requires you to exit and re-enter security then you won't be (ie: a different airline in some airports such as FLL)
Do know that they do not sell Cruzan in the SJU airport :(
