Trip Report Day 2 -2/2/09
Thanks to all of you who responded to my first installment Trip Report. Today was our 40th anniversary!! And thank you for all your good wishes.
This morning, we had a lovely time on our deck having coffee and breakfast. After breakfast, we walked to town and hopped in a taxi to take us to Hawksnest. When we got on to the back of the taxi (safari truck) there were already three people (from NY) who had been waiting for the driver to take them to Trunk Bay. We don't know how long they had been sitting waiting for the driver to get going but they were not happy. Once we got on it was at least another 10 minutes before our original driver told us that a different driver would take us. So we unload all our stuff, chairs, bags, coolers, etc and climb into another taxi who, thankfully, left right away. Away we go to Hawksnest. As beautiful as ever. However, the surf was mighty rough, practically no dry sand to plunk our chairs down into. But we persevered. We had a lovely day. Incredibly beautiful. We had packed a lunch and some fortification in the form of diet coke (caffeine free of course), limes, rum, koozies but NO CUPS to make the libation in!!!!! So we popped open a can, dumped a little of the dc out poured in the rum and a skinny slice of lime and we were in business!!!! After a while one of us was tired of sitting in the 'sand chair' so we decided to head back to town and sit at the beach at the Beach Bar.
We ran into Jeff and Russ from On-St John and Bongo Bongo and had a great time chatting with them at the bar. We talked a lot about world problems and the economy. I don't remember solving anything but we had a great time anyway. Back to the villa, shower, get dressed and head out to Zozo's for dinner. Awesome. We sat upstairs in the lounge and had some champagne (Veuve Cliquot) (sp?) . Dinner was delicious. We sat at a cute little table for two at the rail. Started with lobster ravioli and parma prosciutto crostini. I had shrimp over sweet corn risotto and mrdndw/l had rack of lamb with creamy polenta. Chocolate chip brownie semi-freddo for dessert. Oh boy! Quite delicious. Now we are trying to digest everything. Tomorrow we are off with our new friends Kathy and Dan from Iowa to check out some places, maybe head out to Skinny's for lunch and possibly Sloop Jones. We will definitely be checking out Maho and Rhumblines. At least 3 people over on St Thomas suggested we go to Rhumblines. Guess what folks, it looks like we will be renting a car for a few days after all. I'll keep you posted. 'Night 'Nght
