Italy Trip Day 6

Post by waterguy »

Italy Trip Day 6
Up early grab a quick breakfast and off to the train station it is the first time we have had to pay for subway tickets since we bought our Roma passes they are only good for 3 day's. We have passage booked on a Euro star train it is pretty much nonstop. As we are figuring out where to board a guy grabs Kathleen's bag and takes it on the train and stands there with his hand out I don't have anything smaller then a 5 euro bill so I made him happy. Tip don't look like you don't know what you are doing even if you don't I think it was even a shorter distance then from baggage check to the taxis 's in STT.
The train ride was great what I remember of it. It was very foggy out so I took a little cat nap could believe how fast we were going when I woke up. The train ride was 1.5 hours. I can't sleep on planes but didn't have any trouble on the train.
We got to Florence and only had bout a 3 block walk to our Hotel Porta Frenza nice hotel but next time I think we would look for one more centrally located. Our room wasn't ready yet so we dropped off our luggage and Called Anthony. He said he will meet us in the market in 20 min. Told him to look for the 6 ft tall blonde girl as we found that we were just about taller then most of the people we had seen so far.LOL It must have been in the 50s I just had a sweat shirt on all the leather coat dealer were trying to sell me a jacket.
Met up with Anthony what a great guy you can tell he loves his city gave us great tour of a lot of the high lights to get our bearings it is great that there aren't as many cars on the streets as in Rome you could wander down the middle of them Anthony took us to a restaurant by the name of Boccadama and translates roughly to "ladies mouth. It was great home cooked food had a great time talking to Anthony. Wish we would of got a picture of him but neither of us thought to take one. Walking the streets with him was like being with family. He had canceled his barber shop appointment and had to get his hair cut before going home so he left us to explore on our own. I took a total of 1 picture this day can't believe it Don't worry tomorrow I have a lot of them.

We went back and unpacked. Went out to find something for supper don't know where we were just that we were close to the market. Got talked into going into a restaurant by a cute girl that looked like Audrey Hepburn I'm a sucker for a cute girl.LOL We shared a boar sausage antipasti that was great Then I had the best mushroom soup of my life followed by this huge rib eye done Tucson style. Would love to tell you the name of the Place but we tried to find it again later just to have the mushroom soup and couldn't. Wandered the narrow streets lit by Christmas lights very nice evening.

Sorry about the pictures today.

Hi Anthony

From our hotel it was past the maket in a square it had an out side enclosed seating area, inside there was a wood fired fire place It had one dining room where you entered and another past the kitchen it seemed to be in the building next door. I wish I had done a better Job of writing down the places we ate at I tried not to take a camera with me at night to just enjoy it so no food porn.
