Italy trip Day 5
Italy trip Day 5
Italy trip day 5 New Years Day
We slept in this morning as things weren't suppose to open early. The buffet they put on this morning at the hotel was great they had the usual stuff then they also had a table of Roman classic new year foods There was a lentil and sausage dish that the more you ate the more money you would get in the next year after a couple of helpings of that and a few mimosas. You can't take any chances you know LOL .
We headed out got to the Piazza Popolo and there was a street fair going on we watched some of the performers. And did some people watching.

We wander into a church that isn't in the guide books just beautiful How there can be so many places that take your breath away I don't know. This church is where they filmed the sequel to the Da Vinci code.

Headed over to the Spanish steps first time seeing it in the day light.

Then on to the Trevi Fountain We both made our wish.

On to the Pantheon We got there 10 min. late it closed early because of the day. Kathleen was bummed it was on her list of must seen things well gives us a reason to go back.
Next it was on to the St Peter in the chains church. But first it was a bus ride from hell must of wanted to get our moneys worth from the Roma pass first bus took us sort of in the right way Kathleen asked the bus driver what bus we should take to get to the church he must of miss under stood what was asked but the bus he told us to take didn't go any where near the right direction Also tip the buses don't run in a loop like here they go to a point and then turn around and retrace there route. So after being on this one for what feels like hours we figure out we are close to our hotel and a subway station we take that. We do better underground I guess. Get to the church it is unbelievable. The actual chains and the Moses.

By the time we are done it is getting dark and the coliseum is all lit up.

We head back to where we had the great meal earlier but they are closed again so no rabbit for me. Get back to the hotel and pack for the morning we have a train to catch to Florence.
Don't for get to click on the pictures if you want to see more in my album

My Mom and I had lunch in that sidewalk restaurant just on the right edge of your picture of the Pantheon. The different types of marble inside the pantheon was interesting and the open dome. We also had the most delicious pasta in cream sauce I ever tasted at the Mangrovia restaurant near the railroad termini.
