forum decorum?
Back in the good old/bad old days of this forum...before we had to log-in and the threads went the way they do now...there seemed to be a sort of "frontier justice." If a poster seemed out of hand, a bit over the top or too full of themselves, we took it upon ourselves to bring them down to earth with a barrage of sophomoric jibes. Are we still allowed to do that?
Not that I would do such a thing, but Marcia wants to know...and so does Bandit.

Pete, It definitely has a different flavor these days. Not better, or worse, just different. I glaze over when reading much of the stuff that I think you're referring to, or just don't bother reading it at all. I guess I try to see it as "it's all good"

I think that since the group is somewhat smaller, there hasn't been a need for any "frontier justice" Us regulars know so much about each other and we accept each other for who we are and don't pass judgement.
People are indeed entitled to their opinion and are welcome to voice it. That being said, I think that if there is something that you don't like, don't read it.
Unless someone is attacking you personally, there should be no need for attacks.
I don't think that anyone should feel like they can't post their feelings and thoughts, just remember that there is a living, breathing person on the other end.

I love this forum!
Yea! My activation was in my inbox this AM! Hi all. I have lurked forever and posted questions infrequently with my real first name on the old board so none of you know me but maybe that will change. Just wanted to say that the new forum looks great and reading for the past few days I've been enjoying the trip reports and witty banter on this board. This is a nice change of pace from another couple of boards I read where "snarky" is the order of the day. Anyway, have a blast planning your future trips and I'll be living vicariously through everyone's trip reports.

I really like the lack of ickiness on this new forum.
I was really getting sick and tired of the rudeness and, on the other hand, the level of sensitivity on the original forum. It was getting to the point where people couldn't give their own personal opinions anymore. If they did, they'd be bomblasted with other posters either being offended or irrationally attacking them.
Remember how much flak Jorge got for his first trip reports on the original forum?!!! Holy moly!
I agree with the last few people on this thread....if ya don't like it, don't tell us why, just don't read it!

You certainly can appreciate that I was being somewhat tongue in cheek in my original post. I was not a big fan of the rude posts and some of the more rude posters on the old board, either. But, I did like that we could rib each other now and again...it kind of added balance.
Perhaps I should have prefaced my original post with the apparently effective disclaimer, "if you don't like what I'm about to say, don't read it." That seems to be a good way to cover one's a$$. Of course, the wife's a$$ is a different story.

AMEN! What amazes me is that people get so annoyed that their time has been "wasted" by others on other forums that they then, in turn, make a lengthy post flaming someone.
We do pretty much lack trolls here, which is very nice!
Though a NICE warning of upcoming NEKKEDNESS in a post would be appreciated

Yes, I think we are all allowed to do that - so here goes (boy I only made it 5 days into January before I let rip - bad choice of word - you all know what I mean
)
If you are refering to a certain "popular" trip report (and maybe you are not so I apologize if I am wrong) the author did say in "his" very first report that when you see the title, and if you do not want to read them, then don't !! a very generous offer, as some people just post and you are half way through it before you realize the content, so my advise is - don't read them.
So there you have it - boy was I mild - patting mself on the back as we speak
Anyway, must go now as I'm getting ready for chocolate martini's with Jorge
Luv and kisses to you all.
