Help re: wedding at the Westin
Hi everyone,
Strange question coming from me I know, but has anyone here attended a wedding at the Westin (St John of course
) where it was held on the beach, wittnessed a beach wedding there, or even been married on the beach there and if so how was the experience.
Thanks so much.
Pia

Once while we were guests at the westin we saw the set-up and looked around a bit at the wedding going on. It looked lovely and those attending appeared to be having a jolly time.It was off to the right of the last set of rooms facing the beach. Is there something specific you are curious about?

Hi Carolyn
Thanks so much - can you tell me how long ago that was and also were there tables and chairs set up for the reception on the sand or was it just a ceremony site (if that makes sense - like a flower petal aisle for instance) and the reception was elsewhere on the Westin property or infront of the rooms (for instance)
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Pia,
My son was married at the Westin June of 2007. Overall I can say it was a positive experience for them.
The only negative was that they had the ceremony on the beach @ 5:00pm. The bugs nearly ate the bride and the guests alive. The Westin did provide bug spray, but the Tiki torches were an extra expense.
We had the reception under a tent by the gazebo, with a DJ, security had us stop the reception at 10:00pm, so not to disturb other hotel guests, which was really not a big deal. I don't know how they handle parties held indoors.
Hope that helps, if you have any other questions, please PM me.

Pia... the wedding we saw was within the last couple years but I don't remember exactly when, or alot of other details except for the tent, cocktails and people partying. Perhaps we saw it more than once because I remember seeing it in daylight and darkness...and when it was dark was when the cocktail post wedding and probably reception was going on. Sorry I'm not more help. I'm sure others will have better reccolection than I am having now! No doubt RUM has clouded my memory!!!
We have seen quite a few over the years. We used to stay there our whole trip, now we stay at the end of our trips with Starwood points.
Every time I have seen one they are at the very end of the beach (facing the water on the right hand side). I would say it would be considered "semi private". There is no real reason hotel guests go way over there unless they are on the end rooms over there. Of course, there will be those that peek.
They definitely let the band play fairly loudly (or at least they used to). It was a real issue for us one year when we were on the end unit when it played (probably till 10) but it seemed like forever. No one could sleep.
