Airline woes

Post by psufan »

I mainly just have to vent. For the second time, this time with no email notification what-so-ever, we had our Continental flight out of Newark changed once again. Thank goodness I looked! The last time I was okay because the new plan had us arriving in STT earlier due to an earlier departure. This time though we were bumped to a later flight and have a longer layover in PR. To make it even worse, the flight we are now booked on is cheaper than the price we booked originally. Since they have bumped us twice now I thought maybe they would be nice enough to give us the cheaper price. How naive am I?

I feel your pain

We were initially going to schedule to fly Continental from Manchester NH to Newark to STT on May 15th. They changed the Newark to STT to depart on the 16th. We gambled on booking in hopes of the price drops as they were doing. We noticed Continental kept making changes to a majority of their flight plans and figured it would be best to go with someone else. We ended up booking a flight from Boston to Charlotte and then to STT by 3:25 PM on May 15th with US Air. Keep our fingers crossed that stays. It is very frustrating I tell ya.

What made it even worse is that the change they made on the leg from Newark to PR had us arriving later than our departing flight to STT. They never bothered to change that flight for us. When I called last night at 10PM to change the flight into STT, the next available flight only had 3 seats available and we are a party of 4. So now we get to enjoy a 2 hour layover in PR.

Our United flights from Chicago were also changed without notice. When I called and tried to change them from the bad flights they moved us to to better ones on USAir ( their sister airline) I was told they couldn't put us on USAir because we used miles to buy our tickets. I don't understand since we could have used those same miles to buy USAir flights to begin with.

Frustrating!!!!!! The airlines drive me crazy!

PSU fan - do you mind if I ask you when you are going - we're looking to go Continental 5/13-5/20 - just curious what your dates were (my friend booked our flights - I don't have the actual information at the moment).

Adrienne, we leave on 5/22 and return 5/31. Our first flight was a non-stop to STT which was apparently cancelled. The next flight apparently cancelled was the 7:05AM flight. We are now scheduled to leave at 8:35AM. It would probably be helpful to ask your friend to check on the reservation just to be certain.

Ditto - waterguy's suggestion...this happened with American and I called and explained the changes, why they wouldn't work and what flights I wanted ...and they made the changes.

they told me that the computer makes the changes and often this type of problems end up happening.

Certainly a reminder to us all to check our flights every couple of weeks!
