Dear Delta...I'm not kidding

Post by pipanale »

Seriously? Flights from RDU to POP for our vacation were $330 yesterday. Today, they're $540? Last week they were over $900? And the week before, over $800?

Same flights. Same days. Very different prices.

I mean, wtf guys?

I don't wanna hear no mumbo jumbo about fares on Tuesdays or Wednesdays or prices changing based on the day of the week. this is complete and utter crap.

My message to Delta:
Go to the supermarket. Srsly. mkthx

Translation: Go to the store and visit the dairy aisle

Translation 2: Go to the store, visit the dairy aisle and buy some yogurt.

Translation 3: Go For Yogurt

Translation 4: GFY.

In our house, with a little vulgarity sponge underfoot at all times, we decided to just tell each other to Go For Yogurt when we needed to tell each other to do the anatomically impossible.

I can't tell you how much I hate all airlines not named Southwest. Set the damn price and keep it. This is utter and complete BS.

I'm irritated despite the fact that I could probably go back right now and reprice it and find free airfare.

We're only leaning towards going back to Puerto Plata because fares to anywhere else are insanely expensive. Pardon me for not seeing a 23-hour layover in ATL or MIA or EWR as an acceptable way to get to the islands.

Stupid airlines.

and...I'm done (drops microphone on the stage and walks off)

Oh dear.

If it's any consolation, flying out of ATL I can't even get access to Southwest, so you've got us beat there.

For me, it's Delta or DeathTran... I mean, AirTran.

Digression, but true story. I once flew on an AirTran flight to Palm Beach where both my window casing and the ceiling joint were rigged with duct tape. You can imagine my panic when the plan suddenly dropped over 100 feet mid-flight and sent passengers flying. It's why I now take xanax when I fly and NEVER leave my seat belt unfastened. Also, why I can no longer eat cheddar cheese pretzel combos (what I was eating when that event happened), but that's a personal problem.

Have you looked into any charter flights (through vacation express, etc?)

It's RDU. Unless I want a charter trip to Harrah's in Biloxi, I'm screwed.

I don't fly AirTran either. I'm kinda tied to Delta for vacations (I'm a points and miles whore) and am tethered to ATL for all my trips.

Combos are gross anyway. You're better off without them.

It will come down again, but I wasn't ready to hit "Purchase" yesterday.

I went to the Delta FF web site, and now, in addition to the $10 fee that I've paid before when flying using miles, they show a $75 "redemption fee"!

Where's The Fruit?!

I've been searching for airfare for the last 3 days and it is driving me nuts as well. I'd like to fly out of GLH to STT(greenville, MS Northwest services-12 miles from my house & free parking. It is run just like that old TV show "Wings". The same person does every job. And they insist on using the loud speaker to announce anything even though it is very small) ---and all of the cheap fares range from $500-900 ($600 today). And that is with overnight layovers in Newark, JFK, Atlanta,Miami or San Jaun. I can get the more direct flights for $1,500.

Believe it or not we usually drive 2 hours to Little Rock to fly or even 3 hours to Memphis. It is a drag to on the return flight knowing we still have a couple of hours to drive home.

I hate AA

Post by Lovermont »

oh oh... airline bashing... can I play?

We drove six hours (yes six hours) from Vermont to JFK so that we could fly non-stop to STT last month. My logic was that we wouldn't have any wintertime missed connections and that our bags would arrive with us. WRONG! How does AA lose bags that were checked in for a non-stop flight? Unbelievable. We filed a full report at STT; every detail was taken down. So, we didn't have my snorkel gear and all of my husband's clothes for two days. When it finally arrived, they sent it by ferry to Cruz Bay; problem was that we were 45 minutes away at Concordia. Every time I asked how much we'd get compensated I got a different amount. Finally, one agent said that our file stated that we were approved for $75. No telling me how I was going to receive the money. When I inquired about the procedure to get the money, they gave me convoluted instructions requiring luggage tags (um... when the bag arrived there wasn't a luggage tag.) Ultimately, I was just worn down by many phone calls and emails, and ultimately the allotted time expired. What annoys me is that they had a case number from our arrival in STT, so I'm not sure why it was my responsibility to jump through their hoops. Actually, I understand perfectly. They wear you down until you're fatigued and give up. Lousy ***holes! Sheesh...

Oh look! Flight went down to $460 today.

Who runs a business this way?

As for Geo Challenge...reduce your graphics to low (the little button next to the mute) and become a dork. I'm hoping to go through 40K soon so I can get into Raleigh's top 10.

Pipanale, thanks for the tip! My score increased a tiny bit unlike you! Damn! I'm posting it here rather than FB because I have a friend who is trying to beat me and I don't want her to have the advantage yet. Think I've reached dorkdom...received a trophy for playing 100 games.

BTW, I'm still waiting for airfare to go on sale!

Bought my airfare today!

Decided to go with AA. NWA & Delta weren't very interested in the opportunity of me flying with them.

I called NWA yesterday to inquire re: flying out of Greenville MS since it is so close to my house (12 miles) and the agent told me I was rude.

My question was "If I fly out of Greenville & the flight is canceled, what are my options? Will I be allowed to drive to another airport to depart?" (There are 2 flights/day departing from Greenville to Memphis. They only go to Memphis. All 2 arriving flights come from Memphis.) I'm much more flexible on the return.

The agent then told me...

"Northwest does not have any direct flights to St. Thomas from Greenville, Mississippi."
(Really? No sh!t! The only flight anywhere is to Memphis and it just happens to be a direct flight. You can drive it in 2.75 hours or pay $500 for a 45 min. flight.)

I told her I was well aware of the schedule and that her answer had nothing to do with my question. That is when she told me I was rude and I didn't let her finish. I said, "Yes, m'am, please continue..."

I told the agent when she finally finished with her 3 min. verbal lashing and answer which could have been paraphrased as "I don't know and I'm not going to find out," that I won't be flying with NWA.

So I'm choosing not to pay extra for the convenience to fly out of Greenville and have my flight canceled (which is quite common) and then drive to the airport of their choice.

It will be American Airlines from Little Rock, AR.

Yeah! Yippee! I have airfare!

Getting ready to drink a pot of coffee and play geo challenge and then waste an hour at Minigolf party!
