Linne, Thank you for your best wishes for all of us Americans. For me, there is no energy to be wasted on a blame game. It's time to turn the page. I too wish Mr. Obama good fortune and the wisdom to lead this great country through a most troubled time. I feel like we've elected President Obama to put "Humpty Dumpty," back together again.

linne, are you and other Danes familiar with the "Humpty Dumpty" nursery rhyme about an egg that fell and broke? In case you are not, this is it:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty together again

I think that maybe all the king's men argued too much as to whether poor Humpty Dumpty was pushed, and if so, who pushed him? Then they spent too much energy disagreeing on how to put him together again.
I feel that we elected a someone to put America back together, and we owe him our support.

I haven’t heard it before, and I had to read your comments, before I understood why you brought it.

Wise words JT!

I have to tell that I’m really shocked to see how my topic with the “good luck” has developed. It was certainly not my intention with it. And I don’t read much of it any more. It’s too difficult for me to understand.

Linne, Again let me say "thank you" for your wishes of good luck. I have to agree with you that it is shocking the way the topic sunk into the mean spirited banter from both sides of the political spectrum. I'm also amazed at how much time people, who are employed, and seemingly extremely well paid, have to articulate, and type, such long postings.

I always amazed at how many people surf the forum from work...you know who you are! They must be self-empoloyed or they have a really laid back employer....hehehehee! Ok, ok, so I'm jealous!

I also find it amazing. I actually posted a question once asking what kind of jobs people had that allowed them to spend so much time on the internet. I wanted to have a job like that. A few people explained that they were only online during their breaks (I also .

Hey Lex, I am curious too, did you ask that question here?? I would love to see the answers. If not, will you start a new thread and ask??

A few people explained that they were only online during their breaks (I also would be interested in knowing what kind of job allows for frequent breaks throughout the day. I'd be happy with more breaks, even if I couldn't spend them online). But no one ever actually told me what kind of job they had that made it possible to be online off and on throughout the day. Seems it may be secret.
Biotech sales for me Lex. I'm in my car all day, with an air card...I often have to jump online to get an address, or medicare information, etc.

Lex!

Actually I remember that some of the very active forum members in the political discussions have told about their job, and why they had the time.

A few people mentioned how they managed to find time, but nobody was very willing to disclose what their jobs actually were. Soxfan is the only one I can think of who actually told me what he does, but I'm not cut out for that field. So I'm still stuck at a job that doesn't allow me much time on the net. I wish people would tell me. I'd really like to try to get one of those jobs.

I work for a tire recycling business as a salesman. I do internet sales as well as retail. My real passion is music and computers, in that order. I spent about 20 years as a starving musician. (It's not nearly as bad as it sounds...) Back in 1998 I was paralyzed in my right arm. During the time before surgery, a year and a half) and the ensuing rehab, I taught myself about 3D graphics and animation. Now I'm a starving graphic artist... These days I do more repair work than graphics...but, it's going to my St J fund so I don't mind.

My husband and I own a business. One of the perks is that I don't go to work until 10. Today my husband and I decided that we earned a gluttoness day and stayed home--it is cold and sometimes it is nice to do nothing. I have spent most of my time today surfing the net.

One of my questions is how do people afford to build the houses that are being built in St. John . . . and another is what does the person do who spend $10,000 plus to rent a week in a villa. One of my first posts here asked for suggestions on villa's. The first ones suggested were more than $10,000.

I'll bite. We are self employed in the medical field. We provide a very specific diagnostic test for a very specific disease to area hospitals. The hospitals would rather hire us to provide this service as it is very expensive and technical (our entry lever tech starts at $50K plus bene). There are not technologist that know how to do this type of procedure out and about. We use to home grow them now colleges are beginning to offer courses in it. We are beginning our 11th year and have done well. We now have very good people running "the show" for us and pop in for a few hours each day. We are now determining if we will continue once our taxes go up again. After you cross the 50% line of your income that you earn going to the goverment it gets to the point of why bother. We have our SJ retirement fund. We have moved all our 401K money into private IRA's (so Mr. O doesn't get his hands on it). We are ready to do the 3/4 months a year plan and spend the rest of the time on the lake. I communicate with our office on line all day so am the laptop on waiting for this or that and jump on several sites of interest throughout the day in between.
