Marriage problems

Post by djmom »

How many of you are wanting to sell it all and move to the islands and your spouse is against it?

Is this an off topic topic?

We'd both go in a heartbeat if the healthcare system was better and the WAPA bills weren't so outrageous! LOL!

i would love to do that--run an inn or something-- my husband though is tied to the lab. too many interesting things to figure out..so there is NO way he'd go (and has said as much)

but ont he plus side, he truly LOVES what he does, and for that I am grateful (but really really cold)

I think my husband thinks we need to buy a "VILLA". I am like no, give me a tiny house, less to clean.

(and lower power bill)

my healthcare would be zero if I wasn't on all these crazy pills from stress.

You wouldn't need stress pills if you moved to STJ! Come to think of it, neither would I!

not me but I'd like to get to a point where I could go there for 1-2 months a year. that would be ideal for me.

I'm with mbw1024, I would love to own a villa that I could go to anytime or for a couple of week at a time. I could rent it to my forum friends the rest of the year 8)

I don't have STJ marriage issues, because I refuse to marry a man that doesn't love STJ as much as I do.

Still waiting...

After 5 years of on-island living, I think that I am more against it than he is an he has only been there 3 times.

I think it is because I know what it is like to live there and I prefer to visit at this stage of my life.

Island life is just like life anywhere else. You need to get up and go to work, make dinner, do laundry, clean the house(or apt., in most cases), pay bills, get gas, etc. The only difference is that there are beautiful beaches (that you rarely have time to get to) and nice weather.

I much prefer the dream of living on island and not having to work. Raising money for local schools and charities, swimming every day, and picking up the mail only when I feel like it. It will be a long time before we can do that, so for now, vacationing is the perfect thing for me.

hi djmmom. we have been going to stj since 1998. the last 4-5 yrs we have been talking about moving there just for the winter months. but the big hangup is our GROWN kids..lol lol. we just want them to move back in and take care of the house and bills and cats lol. they just cannot get it together enough to do this. we figured we would need 5 to $10,000 to live on from dec-may. but we could get jobs...hubbie has many years experience in the hotel bus. and i am a travel agent. anyone in michigan want to rent out a house cheap..must adore cats..we have 3. we talk about this all the time. i quess it is just a dream, so we fly down as often as we can. hmmmmmmmm i could go down anytime i want but nobody to hang with. hubbie is tied down to his job here. any takers? :? :?

I love cats, but hate cold! If you were to spend the summer in STJ, I'd seriously think about it, but I'll bet you'd be heading to STJ to escape winter in Michigan, right?

Sure, I used to have those kind of spouse problems. Her idea of a perfect vacation is Disney World - spiritual wasteland. I divested that spouse; she was an under performing asset.

My kids and my lady love to travel and do the same fun stuff I love to do. My eleven year old daughter asks about the different schools on STJ and fantasizes about life there. Christine walks in from the cold, says bad words and asks "Why aren't we on St. John?!"

Soon come.

Cheers, RickG
