Teresa Rae - No offense, but you are so way off-base and over the edge with that remark. I find it completely offensive to generalize in that way. This is NOT China, where they put Melamine in baby's milk and lead in toys! And I cannot fathom that anyone in the USA would abort a baby because of its hair color, for cryin' out loud!

Flipper, Flipper, Flipper! You never cease to amaze and surprise me. Thanks for your well put, profound, thoughtful, gut-retching, informative response.

As to "why's", name calling, mud slinging, or even getting overly emotional putting forth your opinions, or criticizing others for theirs, I say go for it. It's kind of entertaining, in a sick sort of way. That said, it's a huge waste of time and energy. It's unlikely that you're going to change anybody's mind.

Me? I'll probably write in Frank Zappa.

So we aren’t just talking about the situations you mentioned above. We are talking about babies whose parents deem them not good enough to deserve life, so they are sentenced to the possibility of dying in garbage cans, and Obama is ok with that according to the way he has voted.

There are waiting lists for people who want to adopt children with Down syndrome. So for parents who aren’t able to see past their child’s disability, there are other people who will.

Where do you draw the line? If it is ok to abort babies with Down syndrome, then is it ok to abort babies with red hair if you prefer blonde? Is it ok to abort girl babies like they do in China?
Teresa, I couldn't agree with you more.

To expound on that with my own thoughts...The greatest moral issue facing us today in my mind is the feeling of entitlement that exists in our society. Everybody wants everything to be EASY.

I happen to think genetic testing is wonderful when used as a means to PREPARE yourself for any unforseen challenges. Unfortunately, the numbers that you have posted prove that most use it as a way out of an imperfect, challenging situation.

Many think that access to preventative healthcare is a birthright. My parents told me to go to school, get a job, and EARN healthcare for me and my family - which I have done. I do not want to be supported by my neighbor down the street. I couldn't look at my son with any pride or dignity if that were the case. I will make my own way.

Many thought it was a sound strategy for everyone in the country to be homeowners (see: Carter's Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, and Clinton's Social Engineering initiatives of the 1990's). Well, what we did was give loans to people who had no business getting even a car loan, nevermind a mortgage. Now we have to foot the bill while Obama croanies like Raines take their $90 million from Fannie Mae and go on their way.

This entitlement society is KILLING US.

And if you vote for Obama, you are all but sealing our fate.

Teresa, I simply refuse to draw a line.

It is easy to dehumanize and judge people in an aggregate, it is not so easy to judge people so harshly when you have to view them as individuals.

Our government and our judicial system is simply not equipped to take these instances on a case by case basis in a timely manner. In this, as in all cases, I err on the side of the individual to make the decision that is right for them.

Your china argument doesn't even warrant a response and is very much the inflamatory language that I think does nothing to bring the two sides together. No one is pro-abortion. No one wants abortion to be the only option, but villianizing women doesn't help us move toward that reality.

1st, Thank you Jorge!

2nd, whom are we writing in, or voting for independently? Because neither candidate is qualified to run our country.
I do believe that John McCain is more capable of moderating his policies once he is elected, bringing us closer to the center than Obama. And he is a Great, Brave, American Hero, whose accomplishments I often hear minimized because he is too old, and "Vietnam was a long time ago". Is that age-ism?

However, his choice of a running mate would seem to be weak.

If you were to get a job as a manager at Home Depot, would you believe that you were qualified to run the Company after 130 days on the job? That is what you have with Obama, whom I am sure has his best days ahead of him.

Obama has done a very good job on equivicating or avoiding letting anyone know what he would do about anything {which makes him the Democrats Mitt Romney}.

I believe that the next POTUS will benefit from the very low expectations of the Public, which really only cares about how things seem, not about how things are.
Most often the countries problems are neither black nor white, complex not simple, and rarely is there a solution that pleases the other side, except in hindsight, when the details have blended and everyone can take credit for it.

Soxfan22...you seem to want to forget the part about the Republicans running the economy into the ground these last 8 years. McCain wants to "throw the bums out" but doesn't think that we're smart enough to understand that he is one of the bums.

As for the abortion issue...well, I simply can't wrap my head around the fact that there actually are women who are not pro-choice.

The republicans are great about talking about less government intrusion into our lives, except when it comes to trying to legislate our morality. The decision should be between a woman and her doctor, why do the republicans have to get government involved. The republicans only are for less government if it means less financial oversight on corporations.

Wise up...the emperor is not wearing any clothes.

I didn’t make that statement to be inflammatory, not at all. The point is, if we as a nation deem that it is ok to abort a baby with Down syndrome, then it begs the question: where is the line? When does it stop being ok to abort a baby based on some characteristic it may or may not have? Having a selective abortion when neither the health of the mother or child is at risk simply opens the floodgates to what is and what isn’t acceptable. Food for thought.

I just heard Obama on the Senate floor say "If we don't do anything, it will be more difficult for people to get mortgages...".

You moron - IT SHOULD BE DIFFICULT TO GET A MORTGAGE!!! THAT'S WHAT GOT US INTO THIS MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!

BTW - Mortgages for QUALIFIED BUYERS are closing today all over the country. The gravy train has ended for those who do not qualify.

That is a good thing.

Isn't Palin against abortions even in those situations? Isn't she also against abortion in cases of rape and incest?

If that's food for thought, my brain is going to be hungry.

The community agitator just thanked "The leadership of Senator Dodd for his tremendous leadership as Chairman of the Banking Committee".

You've got to be kidding me. The two guys who took more contributions from Fannie/Freddie than any other elected officials - now playing grab-ass.

This is the revolution? This is change?

Maybe I need to "wise up".
