Who Dat?

I, for one, am proud of the Saints and could care less if they were undefeated or not. That is the most undefeated games our team has EVER gone, and the Cowboys played an awesome game last night.

It may be all as far as the winning streak, but we all hope there is more to come. If not, we are still proud of this team and what they have done so far. They have been a true team and a true part of our city. The players are more involved in things around town (charities and such) than I can ever remember. They have a spirit that we are not used to, and it rubs off on everyone around town...even today after the loss. I did not once hear a negative comment anywhere I went today, all I heard were how proud everyone was that we got to 13 and 0, and how we hope the guys on the team realize that we won't give up on them because they haven't given up on us. So I hope that's not all, but if it is, I am happy that we have these guys for our team this year.

Go Saints! I really like that team, even in spite of yesterday. 16-0 is a heavy weight to carry into the playoffs. This might be good for them.

Don't know if anyone has seen this article by Wright Thompson from espn.com, but I think it sums up how most of us from New Orleans feel. The article was written prior to the loss on Saturday night. Win or lose I am still proud of our Saints.

Today’s loss is a very bad sign. Very bad. In reality, they have not played well in 5 weeks.

If the fans can will them to a win or two in the playoffs so be it. I am looking else ware for an NFC participant in the SB. The D is vulnerable in too many ways. Maybe they are banged up a bit? I don't know. To blow a 17-0 lead at home to Tampa Bay is inexcusable.

We are hoping that when many of our injured starters return for the playoffs, things will get better.

Next we have Carolina who just destroyed the Giants. Holy cow.

So true. Never seen so many people wearing Saints stuff in my life! Its great to see so many Saints fans, but where were they when NO had so many losing seasons??? We have cheered them on whether they were 1-15 or 13-2!

The story I've always told is how when they respectfully pulled him from the BCS championship game at the end when the victory was assured, so he could get some recognition and applause, he went straight to the bench to remove his cleats.

Teammates and staff poured by to congratulate him and he ignored everyone. All people could do is pat him on the shoulder. (He HAD to get those cleats off)

I read that as "I'm done here"

I had him pegged as a head case from that moment on and turns out many of us were right.

As for the Saints, I simply love them and will put up with another 40 years of under achievement if that is the price to pay for averting a near move to San Antonio.

Completely agree with you Wakey. We are LSU season ticket holders and attend as many games as we can (we live 6 hours away). As my son has grown up going to the games, he has always loved going to the locker room afterwards. Most of the players couldn't be nicer. He has become friends with Early Doucet and Keiland Williams. Russell was never nice to the kids. He just walked right by them. And if they did catch him and ask him to sign something he huffed and puffed. IMO he is a jerk.

All I can say for the Saints is, I really wish that Morten Anderson would have been kicking yesterday!!! But, hey, even if they go 13-3, we sure cannot complain!

I will out myself as a stronger Saints' fan since they came back after Katrina, but then I feel stronger about the entire city since then. When you realize that you have a second chance to appreciate so many things that you didn't before, you appreciate them.

If you think about it, you never saw people walking around with Fleur De Lis clothing or tattoes and even now people still do. Alot of people (post-K) do things that they never did before. We realized that to us their is no place like New Orleans, and we have formed a new pride in our city that wasn't there before.

I can remember lots of stuff about the Saints growing up but never considered myself a sports fan till Katrina. So yes, pre-Katrina, I watched the Saints games when they were on TV (keep in mind that they were blacked out alot because they never sold out) or sometimes at my local bar, but I became a TRUE Saints fan when they decided to come back to the city and be a part of the rebuilding process and have been one ever since, and I appreciate my city alot more now too.

Honestly, does it matter why or when someone became a fan? I can tell you one thing, I have not lost faith in them and support them whether they win or lose and am grateful for all they have given us since they returned.

This happens everywhere, I believe. In Boston (specifically referring to some at Fenway Park), we refer to these folks as "Pink Hats". Red Sox games have become a social destination more than a sporting event over the past ten years. These are the "Sox Fans" who think that "Rice, Lynn, & Evans" is a law firm out in Dorchestah.

If you guys have already seen this, forgive me. Rick Reilly, formerly of Sports Illustrated and now of ESPN, wrote a poem about the Saints that was published in the January 11 edition of ESPN the Magazine. I think you'll like it!
